Mine is the Kruger and my reasons are:

1) The classic Kruger Rondawels – the smell of the thatch.
2) The smell of wood burning braai fires filling the balmy evening air in the Camps.
3) The call of a Hyena when night falls.
4) The early Kruger mornings before sunrise.
5) The smell of the Kruger veldt after baking in the hot summer sun and then – a thunderstorm.

:hmz: GM, I think you should ask for participants to say how many Sanparks they have visited.

If Kruger is your favourite and only.....

This is NOT an easy question, and no right answer in our household.

Hawk and I have visited all 20 SANParks - including Groenkloof:

Quote:
Groenkloof - houses the EBiz and PR team, and is such a lovely setting

Table Mountain - an extensive park which is a draw card around the world, with of course, The Mountain

Marakele - a magical camping experience

Golden Gate - crisp air, and such calming beauty

Camdeboo - love the history within this park, and that view!

Mountain Zebra - very peaceful, love the scenery and sightings

Addo Elephant - has a unique charm, perfect to intro little kids to SANParks, also an extensive park

Garden Route National Park (Tsitsikamma, Knysna, & Wilderness) - sea, sand, surf and forests and so much more!

Bontebok - love the picnic area by the river, the camp is also in a pretty setting

Agulhas - special! And one gets to stand at the tip of Africa

West Coast - fantastic bird hide, and the flowers, *sigh!

Karoo - tranquil and a blue sky like I have never seen before

Namaqua - the coastal area is pristine, and then of course the flowers throughout the park

|Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld - spiritual experience and a total getaway from other humans

Augrabies - stunning landscape, and those falls when the river is flowing fast = amazing

Kgalagadi - one just has to go back, over and over. Photographers paradise.

Mapungubwe - to stand at the confluence and look out over Africa as she lies before you, special camping area

Tankwa Karoo - remote, and experience accommodation in old world houses

Mokala - Motswedi is one of the best camping areas in SANParks, love the park too

Kruger - Got all day? Somehow we just have to visit Kruger as often as we can.

There is not a park we do not want to visit again, and each time we visit the 'smaller' parks, they grow on us, and we start planning a return visit. We have come to really appreciate what SANParks are doing in all the parks, right down to the smallest, and most remote: to develop, manage and promote a system of national parks that represents the biodiversity and heritage assets by applying best practice, environmental justice, benefit sharing and sustainable use.

OK, I have visited

Addo
Agulhas
Augrabies
Bontebok
Tstitsikamma (but not the other Garden Route parks)
Karoo
Kgalagadi
Kruger
Mapungubwe
Marakele
Mokala
Mountain Zebra
Table Mountain (most sections, ie Cape Point, Silvermine, Boulders, Kirstenbosch (yes, I know it's not part of the park, but ... ditto Rhodes Memorial), Tafelberg Road and the cableway and top of the table)
West Coast

[and the parks that I have not visited are Camdeboo, Golden Gate, Namaqua, Tankwa Karoo and Richtersveld]

I have a special affection for WCNP as my "home" park  and love many others for many reasons, but the one that I most want to revisit at this point is Mountain Zebra because four days there was not nearly enough!

Wow, DB, that's some achievement!!

I haven't visited all the Parks, but have visited Kruger, Kgalagadi, Augrabies, Mokala, Marakele, Mapungubwe, Karoo, Addo, Camdeboo, Mountain Zebra, Table Mountain (the Mountain, Cape Point, Boulders). I would love to do some more - especially Richtersveld and Tankwa Karoo.

They are all so different and each has its own charm, features etc. It is very difficult to choose a "favourite".

Although I love Kruger (especially the north) , I did enjoy the relative quietness of Mokala, Karoo and Mountain Zebra Parks.

Kgalagadi by a nose.

Probably because of the more wildsideness and the personal attention with 'inside information' I get.

I have been to :

Kruger
Augrabies
Golden Gate
Table Mountain
AisAis region
Tsitsikama
Kgalagadi
Addo
Table Mountain
Cape Point
Golden Gate
Garden Route National Park Knysna section

I go most often to Kruger and love it so perhaps it is my favourite , but Kgalagadi is equally loved although sadly I don't get there any more.

I have visited 15 of the 20 (Groenkloof included) and all of them are special and unique  . DB has captured the spirit or “soul” of the SA National Parks brilliantly  . Due to time and resource constraints we visit our beloved Kruger at least once every year and perhaps one more Park for a shorter period. For us personally it is a bit difficult not to go to Kruger at least once a year. I think some will understand what I mean – to have a “soft spot” for the Kruger  . The travel tales are in particular a temptation to visit all the Parks as they are just so good and they keep on getting better. Bontebok is definitely on our short-term “Sanparks To Visit List” after reading BB’s travel tale for example on the Bontebok National Park. Soooo hopefully the day will come that we will have more time and resources available to visit more SA National Parks within a period of a year :D 8) .

For those who are on their way to any of the SA National Parks - drive safely and enjoy  :cam: :cam: :cam:

Kruger - she stole my heart when I was 6 years old and she has NEVER given it back !!

Karoo National - that dawn and dusk sunlight splashing off the landscape and mountain range, under a rising full-moon. No other place on earth puts on a display like that!

Camdeboo - To the casual traveller it is an arid desolation, without life and without charm. To those who know it, it is a land of secret beauty and infinite variety, sometimes fierce, sometimes hostile, but exercising a fascination that makes the rest of the world seem strangely tame.
And that view across the plains of camdeboo and valley of desolation!!! Unmatched!!

404-504 your description of the Camdeboo National Park is so spot on, kinda haunting in a way. It is indeed a very special National Park and I hope more nature lovers will have the opportunity to visit the Camdeboo.

The late Eve Palmer wrote the most fascinating books of her vivid memories of their Karoo life on their family farm in the Camdeboo.
