I am a veterinary nurse, working far away from home in Australia. I specialise in equine ICU nursing and currently work for a very large practice in Scone, NSW. We have around 1000 patients through our barn each year so they do keep me busy.

I was recently retrenched from my job as an IT developer, 72 days before I was due to retire.

I have reverted to the backup career I started and put on ice 12 years ago, being a qualified tour guide.

I got back into the saddle today and enjoyed it immensely.

Thank you all for your kind words.

I had better not go into more detail or it might be perceived as touting for business......

There was a general restructure Carol, and 110 out of 669 had to be retrenched, so I went for the voluntary severance package to try to save a colleague's job.

The company made a loss, but in line with the planned results. We had only been in the group a few years and still in the 'growth' stage, but this was not good enough for the group which made the best profit in 10 years.

As part of my VSP agreement, I agreed not to badmouth the company, so I am not at liberty to tell you who it was.
