"Heaven, I'm in heaven" are famous lyrics from the song Cheek to Cheek by Irving Berling and sung by Fred Astaire to Ginger Rogers, and this can be heard in the movie the Green Mile where the big fella is watching the film.

Wells in the old days were the manual equivalent of today's boreholes.

Boreholes in Perth are generally used for watering, but produce an unsightly brown stain in a number of areas due to iron oxide bacteria.

Bacteria are becoming increasingly resistant to mainstream antibiotics and, one day, there may be a pandemic similar to the Black Death of the Middle Ages in Europe, which no antibiotic will be able to avert.

Yep, and maybe there is a reason for this - I sometimes wonder if we don't meddle in nature too much and then sit there and moan about over population - when nature has provided the means to control this. Not expressing myself properly but there has to be a reason that these "bugs" are on the planet which target humankind.

Avert your eyes, lest the sight of blood offend you when some moron hangs out of his car and gets chomped by a lion. :wall: :wall:

I agree with you, TP. Nature has a balance that works magnificently, although we don't always understand it. As soon as one link of the balance is upset, the entire chain has to alter to rebalance. Now, when we, as supposed dominions of the world and its life forms. change hundreds, or even thousands of things, Nature cannot rebalance to where she was. So, a new entropy is sought, which suits Nature, but seldom suits us. I fear we may only realise, as a whole, that we are merely entities within Nature, and that we abide by her laws; we cannot exist outside of the system and so we suffer the consequences of our thoughtless actions. There, a quick summary of my current thoughts on the matter. Now, back to the SanParks game ... :D

Lions have, in recent years, been classified as vulnerable, when they were plentiful in Africa less than half a century back.

Whiskers can be attached to all sorts of things - even the male of the species Homo Sapiens

Sapiens is a Latin word meaning wise, but when you look at some of the homo to which the word is attached, you just have to shake your head and wonder.
