Hi All,

The Canon 500D has been recently released in the UK.

Does anyone on the forum have one yet?
Any comments on it?

look at dp review comparing the 450 and 500 depending on what you want to do with the camera will depend on your choice I looked at both and chose the 450 but with the 18-200 bundle as a kit lense so I spent the extra on a better more versatile lens. I dont need the bigger pixels rating it just eats memory cards and i certainly dont need the video option but those you options you must look at. I also have a 40D which I could compare to but I was ultimately disposing of a full pentax kit to bring all my equiptment under one brand and lens type, I was also looking for a good basic camera my daughters could use.

I think I am going to go for the 500D when the price comes down a bit. Was just wondering if anyone has any practical experience of it yet.

Hi All,

Well after many months of research and deliberating, I finally went for it!

Traded my 400D in for the 500D on the weekend. Initial thoughts are that it is fantastic. Has so many more features, and the one that I am really keen to try is the Spot Metering.

Didn't the 400D have spot metering?

The 400D actually do have spotmetering.
