Herman's KNP trip : June 25- July 1 '06

Not really a trip report compared to some of the awesome ones seen here lately, but just a few photos.
We were at Ngwenya Lodge just outside Croc Bridge and went into the park on most days.
Mostly took either the H4-2 or S28 to Lower Sabie, or the "loop" S25 , S108, H5 and H4-2 back to CB.
Also to Tshokwane and back one day and to Skukuza via LS and "highway" and back via H1-1, S114 , H5, S102, S26, S108, S 25.
Great sightings, including Big 5 -starting with a leopard on day1!
To those of you familiar with Ngwenya Lodge, that elephant is back ! Managed to get around the newly erected electric fencing and did more damage to the gardens!

Great leopard shot.

What caused the protruding & traffic jam?

Lion sighting on the "highway" between LS and Skukuza, what else ? LOL We were told that four or six lions killed an impala right in the road in broad daylight. One person told us that he saw it happening just as he came round the bend. By the time the traffic cleared we just caught a glimpse of a lion's ears as it disappeared into the bush, apparently the last of the pride.

Well we did have a few good lion sightings - I posted one about the tree climbing lions under the Lion LIT thread , but here's another pic of some lions of that pride.

I read about a chameleon rescue somewhere on the forum today - we had a similar anxious few minutes waiting for this guy to reach the edge of the road - it felt like ages - fortunately car less minutes
