Yikes... I think your friend Pete needs to drive slower, open his windows and look a little better into the bush.
Even on the worst possible weather(Rainy/Windy) days, I see more than that.
Maybe he didn't cover all the roads in the park, or maybe he just sat at the main waterhole and waited for the animals... Either way... Something he did was definitely not right.
I go to the park at least every second weekend and have NEVER seen so little in ONE day. (Little meaning variety of species, not total sightings). Some days might include only 1 elephant sighting, but still way more variety.

Give more info and I'll try and help/suggest how he/they can improve their sightings in Addo.

I think somebody needs to tell him to get into his car and go through the gates into the game area and stop just sitting at the waterhole in camp.

Or he could take an interest in birds....
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

With all due respect, this is rather sad. At this time of the year you should expect to see Kudu & Warthog every 100m. Over a 5 day period you will see more Kudu, Warthog & Elephants than in 2 weeks in KNP and we haven't even got to the Rhino, Lions and Buffalo or, best of all, the little critters like Porcupine, Meerkats and Genets. Did he see any birds ?

How did he not see the Red Hartebeest? They have hardly moved in 30 years.
