Love the look on the Giraffe eating the young shoots.
Wonderful pic of the Crimson-breasted Shrike.
sure must have made it feel a teeny bit cooler just looking at the water.
Thanks for sharing
One can just see that giraffe savouring every moment of eating those fresh green leaves. Seeing how dry the park is - I understand why!
Hi Bushbuddies, we were there the same weekend, just camping. It was a most enjoyable weekend and enjoyed every moment. Yes it was very dry and hot
Tobieo - we missed each other!
But yes - dry and hot describes it well!
Petty you didn't stay at Tlopi... missed a nice sighting...
Great start, Bushbuddies
although I must say that it still look incredible dry
Nevertheless the impressions from your chalet are fantastic
Ready for more
I think this was the dryest I've seen any park before!
But the view from that deck - also something I haven't experienced in many other parks before - beautiful!
seems to be fantastic
make envy to go
Have you ever been to Marakele, anne-marie? If not - let's wet your appetite!
That deck is just perfect in every way! That's why we didn't stay out too late in Marakele - what can be better than ending your day with a view like that?

Have you been to Marakele before, Ms Mouse? Glad to have you on board. I just love those shrikes!
Beautiful pics of the tent BB, the only thing I didn't like was the roads on the carnivorous side, we struggled with the Jimny
Great pic of the shrike
Aha - slap in the face for the Jimny!
We went in our Honda CR-V ("soft" 4x4), and although it was very rocky in places, we were fine!
I must say, though, I think a normal sedan might struggle on that side...
Beautiful pic of the shrike BB
Great to see how the accommodation has been upgraded (I last stayed there in '97
) It's looking really great -
It really is lovely, I have no idea what it looked like back then, but these tents were really nice!
Bushbuddies, the Park look so nice and peaceful. Stunning pics.
Unreal colours of the Crimson-breasted Shrike.
Thank you for sharing.
With accommodation like that, i will also take A LOT of NAPS.
Peaceful is a good word to describe Marakele, Philip1!
And I also just love these colourful shrikes!
This looks like a very smart place, think I will have to make a plan to get there
Exactly what I though everytime I saw TR's and pictures of Marakele, Isinkwe! And eventually - we got there!

Those tents and views look out of this world
And they are, Cape of Storms, they are...
hilda, these tents can be likened in location and view to many an expensive private lodge!
Just discovered your trip report
It's great to read about Marakele and see your beautiful pictures.
We loved it, too.
Can't wait to read more
Ah Nina! It was so nice to have met you (quickly) in Marakele! Please feel free to chip in and add if you want to!
Bushbuddies, those tents looking beautiful and comfy.
Just love the view from the tent.
Look forward to your experiences and sightings in this park.
Ja - us "Vaalies" have some nice places up here.
If only more Capeys would give something other than Hermanus a try...
Awesome accommodation with a stunning view
Looking forward to the rest

And here is the Marakele Legend herself. I must say Naomi - your lovely TR's and passion for this park was part of the reason we visited it. I do hope you enjoy my little TR as well!
