Our trip began last year. After a successful trip and holiday in Namibia, and while being inspired with all the great things that we experienced, we came together to plan this years trip.
We had the Kgalagadi in mind and took a unusual road to get there from the Boland.
Our first stop was at the Gariep River, at Ramansdrif.

The Gariep is one of South Africa's bigger rivers and we went there to just relax and calm down before we hit the Kgalagadi. We were there for 4 days. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets, the calm river waters, rugged mountains, birds with our friends.

From the Garieb we had about 650km to travel and that is why we stopped over at Twee Rivieren on our way to Nossob. Nothing to report about that except for the nice hot shower I had after 4 days at the river with only a bush shower and bathing in the river itself at dawn. To bath in the river is not to bad though.

All the paperwork done and ready, we left TR @ 8.00 . It was very cold, minus something and freezing, but that did not dampen our spirit. We had 4-5 hours drive to Nossob (depending on how many lions sleep in the road! Kyknetta) Our hopes was high that our favourite spot @ Nossob was available. The 2 springboks looks if they have something to chat about.Image

Mr Big Male stood up, followed by another female and they strolled off.

He stopped, looked at us, and disappeared over the dune.

The next morning we got up very early . During the night the lions were very vocal and we thought that today would be a good LION day in the Nossob area.

Our program of a day normally works as follows.
We make coffee and take it to the hide . We will then sit there just enjoying our coffee and to be there, watching the sunrise . Then we decide what we want to do that day. We like to go on a morning drive or sometimes we go out all day long. When the gate close , we make a fire, braai or make a potjie and then have our last cup of coffee at the web-cam hide again!
I can just add that the lions were very active and vocal at night during our Nossob visit.
. When you sleep with this roaring through the night, it is experiencing Africa at its best! 8)
The next day we were off to Marie se draai, as soon as the gate opens, but no lion to be seen, except for lots of tracts in the red sand.
