On his return he passed right at our unit and one lioness paid a visit as well

After that the lions decided to leave. Eric finally was able to change the gas bottles at our unit. While he was still at it, the lions returned but did not stay long. We finally could have breakfast. Then Eric changed our tyre, my SO helping him while I was on the look-out for the lions.

Then we packed the car and left for Twee Rivieren.

That evening we went on a private sunset drive. Sarah, our guide, asked where we would like to go and I, still waiting for my birthday present, told her, I would like to see a leopard. Thus, we went to Leuuwdril. We did not find the leopard, but saw jackal

and uncounted springhares – actually only the reflection of the eyes.

On the way to Leeuwdril we saw pcgs, pygmy falcons, a crazy gemsbok and a jackal. Since there was nothing at the waterhole, we continued towards Rooiputs where we found “fighting” wildebeests

On the way back some gemsbok were cleaning the road

Image

We saw more pcgs, a tawny, more gemsbok, swallow-tailed bee-eaters, a rock kestrel and the other trap cam again

Image

Back in camp we were greeted by a shongolo

On the afternoon drive we took the same road and saw kori bustard, pcgs and we had a first sighting at Rooiputs of a pale-legged green-back

Image

At Leeuwdril we saw a yellow mongoose

Image

That evening we had dinner at the restaurant in TR. It was really great food and friendly service.

This was our last morning at TR and we decided to give it a final try at finding the leopard. Thus, we were off to Leeuwdril again. The first sighting was eland again

She was sitting and rolling inside the empty waterhole before she decided to return to the tank.

When she returned the gentleman in the car next to us told us to go ahead. He had already taken two full cards of pictures of her. How nice was that.

Unfortunately she moved behind the tank and we had to leave because we had to check out.

On the way back we saw a secretary bird and found some more meerkats

Image

There were some tour guides as well whose guests were taking pics. One of the guides asked us what we had seen. We told him about the leopard and he left on the spot without asking his guests, if they had taken all the pics of the meerkats they wanted.

We returned to the camp, had breakfast and left towards KTC.

When we proceeded, we found a sanparks car parked at the side of the road. They pointed towards a tree and we had our first cheetah sighting which we would have missed otherwise
