Awesome Brown-headed Parrots Elsa, and I love the juvenile Wire-tailed Swallows, just as beautiful as the adults!

Strange Caterpillar sighting! Such a lot of them together!

Always nice to stop at Sunset Dam, even if there are only Hippos in sight. Fortunately there are normally Impies and Zebras too!

Another Ellie roadblock! Congratulations on your African Goshawk sighting!

Great family picture .... great memories!

Thanks again so much everyone
and before you all faint.......... here comes another episode!

31st May

Today we had to switch chalets at the time share so by the time everything was repacked and we were all installed in our new one a bit further down river, we decided to spend the afternoon relaxing and see what came to us.
Unfortunately Scotty and family had to leave us and return home as the little ones had school to attend the next week.
but it was lovely having them with us for the week. :D

So it was just us and Jock left for the remainder of the time.

First visitors to the river in front were these Waterbuck and what a handsome chap he was too!

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

An Egyptian Goose sat keeping watch as the Waterbuck went by.

ImageLarge

and a fat looking Crocodile sunbathing on the sand.

ImageLarge

We also had some feathered friends come visiting!

Black-backed Puffback

ImageLarge

and also a very friendly Yellow-billed Hornbill sitting on the neighbours veranda railing.

ImageLarge

Then quite a big herd of Ellies made their way out the bush and down to the river.

ImageLarge

and the quenching of many thirsts began!

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

and started to make their way across

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

and the one little one decided a nice roll in the warm sand was a good idea!

ImageLarge

and over he went!

ImageLarge

and then they came even closer and at one point were browsing right in front of the chalet which is always such a thrill.
also seeing the young one having a little drink from Mom. :D

ImageLarge

A bit later we sat and watched as the sun set turning the sky blood red!
Does it get much better than this, I somehow doubt it!

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

And that was that for the day but we planned on a nice full day in the park for the next day, so I will be back with more!
Don't go too far away, we are flying now!! 8)

Yea certainly was an entertaining day, but what Elsa did not mention was this was the day her knee really swelled up and she was taken by Klystron to the doctor. Although we were at the best place on earth, it was a nerve wrecking moment waiting for them to return.

Oh my gosh, yes, I had almost forgotten that day and while we were at the doctors you were capturing all those wonderful ellie pics!
but once we came home we did have them right in front for hours munching away!

Again sincere thanks to everyone for the lovely comments and continuing the trip with us!

1st June

Today we were up and in the gate reasonably early altho I am sure Jock would say it could have been a LOT earlier!

I am sure some of you will be familiar with the Acacia Fever Tree branch that is lying sideways just on the dam side of the bridge by the Gezsantfombi dam and appeared to have been "claimed" by 2 Egyptian Geese who we saw on "their" branch every single time we passed by.

And here they are!

ImageLarge

And then another nice sighting of who I am sure is Nhlowa and who you may remember we had seen a few days earlier.

ImageLarge

Altho he was not co-operating very well this time round.

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

As always we try our luck on the S28 and it shows us a nice sighting of a Secretary Bird making its way through the long grass.

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

On the S122 a little African Stonechat

ImageLarge

and a bit further on a Sabota Lark

ImageLarge

and then not to be outdone a Purple Roller

ImageLarge

Another Ellie Crossing

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

and a Female with strange tusks almost touching eachother.

ImageLarge

A Martial Eagle with what looks like a hapless Guineafowl lunch!

ImageLarge

We came across these three little monkeys who looked seriously like they had been caught with their hands in the cookie jar! 8)
Is that not guilt written all over their little faces?

ImageLarge

and another one who was the picture of innocence!

ImageLarge

A Brown Snake Eagle

ImageLarge

ImageLarge

and somewhere along our travels a lovely "Africa" type scene, long may it last!

ImageLarge

And that is pretty much the end of another day in our travels but don't go too far away, I am on a roll now so another episode coming shortly!

Thought I would just check to see if another episode was up, and low and behold, it was.

Yea, I could be at the gate when it opens every day. However, I am grateful for every moment my wonderful parents share with me in Kruger.  :k

Hey Elsa! I'm on board too!

What a huge variety of birds you've seen so far, just awesome!

Also so many Ellies just everywhere. Great Cheetah and Lion sightings too!
