LEOPARD FEVER

On the 13th of March kind visitors shared some info with us......

A leopard had made a kill on 13th loop, pulled the kill up the tree and the leopard was in the tree, although well hidden.

We did a slow circuit of 13th loop looking in all the trees, around the dune road and back up the river loop.

A vehicle was parked, binos out looking at a tree near the end of the loop (where the double tracks are)
They very reluctantly told us that this was the tree, and drove off.

Ok so now we knew which tree, a BIG one, so we started looking. A number of vehicles stopped, we shared the info, some looked for a short while, others were as determined as us to see it.

Eventually we spotted the kill and then knew we were at the right tree.

It was lying on the right side of the tree, closest to the dune road so we wondered whether we could see it from up there...and we went around to the top...and yes there it was...binos needed...and another digital zoom so not very clear

The next morning on our way to TR for the cricket ....we were shocked....need I saw more

The car we shared the sighting with told us at Samevloeing that a number of vehicles of a nationality I will not mention, LS, went driving around the tree, and then were out of their vehicles on the dune road trying to see it    (similar tracks were seen below Uri at a lion sighting a couple of days later)

On our way up to MM, we saw a traffic jam...vehicles spread over a reasonable distance.

Asked the first vehicle ..... reply that a Cheetah mom and cubs had gone behind the dune and he could no longer see them.

Moved forward to next car.....about to ask and instead said "ANNE-MARIE!!!!!!"

Yip she was watching Gertie and cubs

Not good visibility but enough to make out a number of Cheetah...

moving forward a slightly better view

Another day another Lion.

We were travelling south when we came across a-m at the end of a loop's dune road, looking for a Lion she was told was under a tree.

We headed along the river loop and found him near the WH. So went looking for a-m, who was almost there via the dune road.

We also got to meet JudiK and SO who came to the sighting.

Image

It turned out to be "Old Bad Mouth"...still going strong...

Another first time KTP sighting.

While sitting reading Gary Taubes, and constantly looking around I saw a strange creature inside the Mata Mata camp site.

Our first Warthog
