At this moment in time I am suffering from a serious bout of Kruger blues (add Mapungubwe to that) - so maybe it will help if I eventually do my trip report for our December 2012 / January 2013 holidays.

We stayed at Tsendze for ten nights from the 22nd of December,

1 January we stopped over for one night at Punda Maria

and then spent four nights at Mazhou Campsite in Mapugubwe.

The north of Kruger was dry and at Mapungubwe the situation was even worse. At Tsendze we quickly found out that the place to be was Tihongoyeni Waterhole on the Tropic of Capricorn Loop.

We spent many hours there and had some amazing sightings - I called it our "National Geographic" moments!

At Mapungubwe, Maloutswa Hide delivered similar expereinces

....from there the title of my report. :D

We entered at Phalaborwa Gate

and took the short-cut to Tsendze.

When we saw this we knew we were almost at the end of our journey

Trying to get the caravan in the right position - that is the ablution block in the background.

It was really hot but we set up camp quickly. Nearly there....

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone!

It has been said many times before, but Tsendze really is a very special camp with two very special people as its guardians. Rodger and Elinah - thanks for a wonderful stay in the best kept camp in Kruger!

The bird life in the camp is amazing - we woke up every morning to a choir of birdsong with the Woodies as the leadsingers

To the left front of the caravan there was a shrub covered with small white fruits - it was a magnet for all kinds of birdies

Rodger showed us Pearlspotted, Barred and Scops Owl in camp - how he spots them, especially the Scopsies, is beyond me!
How is this for camouflage?

On the day before Christmas we decided to go to Phalaborwa to get some supplies - what a blond moment!! But we had a very special sighting on the way and also got a chance to stop at Mantambeni Hide and Sable Dam.

First up were two Black-backed Jackal who desperately tried to avoid their pics being taken.
