Thank for the comments and views...appreciated

Morning drive Day 2 – Lions and more Lions!
Our plan for the first day was to drive to Kij Kij and come back via the dune road.
We were one of the first cars out and were rewarded with our first Lion sighting a view kilometres outside the gate, two females on a dune.

Image

Between Samevloeiing and Leeudril a Kestrel was posing in beautiful morning light.

Image

It got even better when we saw a Honey badger running in the riverbed looking for food.

Image

As usual the Goshawk was tracking him hoping for a quick snack.

Image

A Jackal also joins the search.

Image

Our first Hartebees

Image

We saw a few cars at Kij Kij and that mean only one thing Lions.
The two resident Males, one big Male with a beautiful main, younger mate and one heavy pregnant female were just finished having a drink.
Please allow me to share many images of this wonderful sighting in perfect Kalahari light

That male lion is magnificent, almost as much hair as a seventies rock star.

Jan, your lion pics are marvelous... but for me, the Honey Badger magnet takes the cake :D what an incredible sighting and experience of animal behaviour.

I love the honeybadger but the lions are spectacular. I love looking at their feet and the strength in their legs. You had some beautiful light to share with us, thanks again.
