Wonderful..images, Jan.
I can just imagine the feeling you might have experienced - You wish time stands still at that moment.
It is sightings and situations like this making you start planning the next one immediately.

I guess it is time for  ...now will it be with cheese or salt?
My seat is booked

Who can get bored with such beautiful pictures of that beautiful animal Jan? :hmz:

Very interesting and good to know that they don't drink together! Animals' behaviour is amazing!

Thank you all for the comments

We did not see any Brown Hyenas on our 5 previous trips and one of my aims was to first see one and then photograph them. Aim achieved, so please enjoy all the images.

This one was drinking, but always keeps his eye on the one waiting in the queue.

Ok everybody please excuse me for being dof but Jan Im dying to know because I truly know nothing about the brown hyena, does he hunt and do and have the same characteristics of the normal hyena you get in the kruger also why does he have such long hair? Once again sorry for my ignorance but if I don't ask I will never know?

The brownie is beautiful. I love the eyes watching the whole time it's like your favourite dog wanting to be pet just this one might bite back.

How close was he to you? Or do you also have one of those lenses that you need a wheelbarrow to hold it?

Thank you all for the comments and views.

Sheenaugh-Lee: Agree with Saraf info and Guss Book, enjoyed every page to the incite of Brown Hyenas)

NetEk: They were about 10 meters from the car (only have a 400mm and dream about a 500mm)

The one finished drinking and gave the other one a "grow".

Move to the over side

Start marking his territory.

Moved off to allow the other one to have a drink.
What a beautiful hairstyle

On his way

To be continued...
