Just further on there was a herd of Sables :D  They were still there when we returned to Lilydale later. This is a selection of photos from both those sightings

Thanks for showing us Mokala. I admire mites that have the energy to post detailed trip reports.

WoW Duke! Very   of your roan and sable sightings as I saw neither on my October visit to Mokala :wall: altho others I met did see roan at just about the same place that you did (I can see that old gate in the background in some of your pix).

Glad you also enjoyed Lilydale's gorgeous and tranquil setting. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the rushing river rapids! 8)

Hope there's room for one more to join this TR.

Love the intro to Mokala since we will be spending 3 nights @ Lilydale at the end of August, just before we venture on to KTP. It's great to get a taste of what we're in for. We've seen sable in Kruger, but not roan. Really looking forward to it.

Sending you a PM for more info on the driving part.

I can never decide which one is my favourite antelope .... Sable? Roan? Gemsbok? I still don't know, but I do know that these are the most beautiful pictures of Sable I have ever seen!

And what an awesome sighting with so many of them together and so close Duke and Sharifa!
