Lots of wonderful and interesting sightings Porridge! Waterbuck, Lion, Yellow Mongoose! Awesome Fish Eagle and Saddle-billed Stork!

The baby Hippo was really struggling to get out of the water! So small and cute!

After the floods the dam must look very different.

With the quality and emotion on the replies to this thread I am going to ask for forgiveness for not answering each post individually. I truly appreciate the fact that each and every one of you follow this report, and you make this journey even more special than it already was

Hey your a newly wed porridge im sure their is more pressing moments lol your forgiven mind you only this time hey next time we will have to speak to your wife and get her to give you a good talking to lol (just kidding)

Day 3

After ensconcing the Krugermobile in an appropriate spot, we retired to the tender embraces of Letaba restaurant. The first beer was duly consumed, and then the archetypal “Trrp-trrrrr” was heard by all and sundry.



Needless to say, I was hunting for this elusive one when a British lady overheard me saying that I really needed the pic as it would cost a mite some money, and there Porridge and Crested Val met for the first time along with Dungy and the extended family. After chatting for ages, Val said that they had arranged a mini-meet with Daron and Co, with whom we had had some passing acquaintance. That marvelous meeting actually happened while we were there I even found the very elusive woodie (obviously), and my apologies for the posterior pic. The pic of the meet is also Daron’s, as I somehow seem to be incapable of taking pics while meeting mites. Notwithstanding, our Val is a real lady, and it was a real priviledge to meet her and her family.



Once everyone had eventually buggered off (which was not a goal which was at a high priority at the time), we checked in. The following from our patio:

Day 3 and 4 seem to be problematic trying to combine, so the next post will reveal the “vicious attack” , which is Day 4

How awesome to have met so many great mites on your trip.

Lovely pic of the Ellie...Super special just to sit in front of the restaurant and watch all the comings and goings of the various animals during the day......sigh ....

With you all the way on your TR it is helping us relive our park time .. Which now seems
like a life time ago .. We too met Val and have to agree she is a very very nice
genuine lady, and a real fun person .. Looking forward to your next instalment
you make me feel a wee bit guilty as I have not done a report .. Not sure how
to .. Anyway love to you and all you family from a rather cold wet grey UK

Another UFO?? That is the most noisy UFO I have ever met. (for those that don't know it's a "Sonbessie" not sure what the English name is)

Porridge your trip report is very entertaining, thank you . That little hippo seems determined not to be left behind hungry whilst the grown-ups are having a chomping feast . I agree NetEK those sonbesies can be very noisy at times almost like a slightly out of tune bush insect orchestra I also do not have a clue what they are called in English.
