Thanks for all the comments! and the B/day wishes!

We are currently sitting at the pool in Orpen, because my boys just HAD to cool off! at 11 this morning, it was 40 degrees C in the shade!

At least now I have some 3G coverage, so I can upload some more pics!

at Kanniedood Dam, this old timer made his way to the water. It seems to me that the REALLY BIG BULLS are getting more scarce every time I visit Kruger...

Image

The great thing about this time of year, is that all the animals seems to have young... there are little ones everywhere you look. So Cute

....and of course, this time of year, the heat makes even the flighted flightless!

and last but not least, no camp is a camp in Kruger without a resident...

That is quite a big Ellie with huge tusks LarissaVW!

You're right, so many young ones and new borns in the Park this time of the year! Really awesome to see them!

Wow! 40 degrees in the shade at 11 am! That surely is very hot!

I also love the Hyenas walking up and down the other side of the fence at night, as long as there is no evidence that they have been fed by some of the visitors like the one at Satara in September 2012! :(

You had some lovely sightings today! Love the baby Baboon!

Enjoy the rest of your birthday LarissaVW! :D

Can I post pics of rhinos at all?
I was thinking just the pics without date, time, place? I got a couple of nice ones to share ....

Larissa, this is the policy as put out by SANparks

Dear forumites,

In your trip reports and general input on the forums, please do not refer to rhinos or other endangered species if the info may contribute to putting these animals at risk.

Aside from rhinos you should think of nesting places of rare birds like Pel's fishing owl and animals that run the risk of being poached. When in doubt please contact a moderator.

Please respect the sensitivity of this subject, and help us raise awareness in this regard.

For more info please read here: Media Release: War on rhino poaching still on.

Thank you,

So you can post your pics of these beautiful animals but just don't mention where and when you saw them.

Day 3 continued...

We went on the night drive, but I must confess, when the truck pulled into Tamboti to pick us up, I was a bit disappointed. I don't like the big trucks... I prefer the smaller "jeeps". The truck is noisy, and it can only go on the wide main roads... :wall:

We had a good time, but struggled to get the guide's attention over the noise of the truck.

We saw lots of general game and...
Large Spotted Genet
Kudu
Hyena
Shrub hare
Ostrich
Lots of Bushbabies
Big family of Warthog
Jackal
and the only one with a pic worth posting... a twig snake...

Awesome picture of the Twig Snake LarissaVW!

You saw quite a lot on your night drive! The Large Spotted Genet and Shrub Hare are very special, as are the Bushbabies and all the other animals!

Your night drive gave you a wide variety of animals.

Sure you must have been disappointed with the large truck and noise level. :(

Beautiful pic of the snake.
