Aat, what a wonderful series of these delightful creatures.

I think that their pre-hunting greeting and bonding must be one of the most exciting things to see in Kruger. You have captured that to perfection.

Your painted dogs must have been a very special sighting. I have never seen such a big pack. Most I've seen was about 10

Thanks a lot for your very nice comment. I just can say Yesss... it was so special to be there and see and feel all going on. I think I should have 6 eyes to follow all. When they were playing 5 other adults returned with some leftovers for the younger ones. After some time they all went in a few minutes... for hunting.

Cape of Storms, Thanks for your comment. Your words do remember me to a sighting I had some years ago , also in Satara area. I was looking at 6 AWD´s and a car came next to me asking where I was lokking for. I told the older couple .. a pack of 6 AWD´s. The man gor tears in his eyes saying owwwwww thats 14 years ago and added I am here 4 times a year.
This and your words do confirm how lucky we have been over the years and this trip again. Believe me, Elly and I have said many times that all the luck we had during this trip was incredible. We feel very priviliged.

Idd, compared to all other AWD sightings this was best of all. Good visible, sleeping to bonding to playing to get away. We stayed for more then an hour with them before they disappeared. It really was breathtaking. All the actions with running and playing was wonderful... do different from sightings where you see them laying down or what we had some years ago.... running all the time making it so difficult to make pics. No it was a real pleasure... :D :D

lovewild,
It really was special. Never seen a pack (size) like this and all these pre-hunting activities. Most sightings of painted dogs were looking at (almost) sleeping dogs. Kruger always has surprises and we like it :) :)
