Thank you Zypresse, Trrp-trrrrrrrr, hilda, anne-marie, Pumbaa, anne catherine, Philip1, Aristocat, wanderw, Lionspoon, Sharifa, melph68 and Duke Ellieton :D

@ Hilda
Now after the trip we are glad that we saw quite a few Elands alive…
Unfortunately we saw so many carcasses during the trip :(

@ anne-marie
I guess it was still too cold for the Agamas in September

@ Pumbaa
You know we love the small inhabitants of the Kalahari

@ anne catherine
We have heard that there was an estimated number of around 13000 Elands in the South African part of the Park at that time…

@ Aristocat
Quote:
loved the "double spotted" one
:D

@ wanderw
Always so lovely to spot Meerkats

@LS
You will see

@ anne-marie
Well at first you need Arks as a neighbour…. :hmz:

@ Sharifa
She was a beauty

@ melph68
Kalahari Lions are the best 8)

@ Duke
:yaya:

31.10.

Well, as I said, no early morning drive for us today.
We HAD to go to reception as early as possible….
Annetjie was at the reception, she listened to what we had to say, checked the availability and within maybe 30 seconds we had our additional night at Grootkolk!!!!! Image

Now we were ready to leave for our drive…

It was a quiet day, but we did not mind at all, the day before had been breathtaking and we still had a smile on our face after our successful start of the day.

First sighting was a Pale Chanting Goshawk having breakfast on a Weavers nest.

Image Larger View

A Slender Mongoose, fast too fast for a decent pic,lol..

Image Larger View

Later one of our favourite little Raptors, a Pygmy Falcon

Image Larger View

In the afternoon a Secretary hunting for food.

Image Larger View

And Meerkats again

Later on the way back to TR we spotted 4 Jackals roaming the Nossob riverbed.

Back at Twee Rivieren we spend the evening with friends who invited us over for dinner, a perfect ending of our stay at TR.
Tomorrow we are off to Grootkolk, meeting up with Arks once again and meeting wanderw and markw for the first time since we "knew" each other for years here on the forum….

01.11.

Today it was time to move to Grootkolk.
We couldn’t wait and were soon on the road again.
First sighting again Elands.

A little later 3 youngsters.

Image

Last year we really struggled to see any Hartebeests, this year we saw many of them again especially around Twee Rivieren.
To see calves is always extra special…

One of the many Eland carcasses we saw on this years trip near Rooiputs. :(

Image
Larger View

But thank God we saw many impressive Eland bulls, like this one near KijKij too….

Image

Before we reached Nossob we spotted a very grumpy looking Bate-Eared Fox

Image

A little shopping stop at Nossob ( and an ice cold drink) and we were soon on our way further north, we still had a couple of km to drive ahead.

We decided that Polentswa was a perfect stop along the way, in fact it is one of our favourite waterholes, there is always something to discover there.
This time once again beautiful Raptors.

The Kalahari flasher

Then we arrived at Grootkolk, Andries greeted us and soon we were moving into our new home.
#1 for the first time ever, neighbour next door wanderw and markw.
First thing was to fill all the bird baths around including our own.

We had a lovely dinner and always had an eye on the waterhole.
Suddenly we saw that we had a visitor, a Brown Hyena!!
Sorry, very bad photo, but the best I was able to take… :wall:

What an end of another wonderful day in KTP….

Beautiful Eland Katydownunder, followed by three awesome youngsters!

That is definitely not a happy Bat-eared Fox! :(

I love all the Bateleurs, and the "flasher" is awesome!

How wonderful to attract all those birds with water! Then ending a fabulous day with a sunset like that! That's life!

I simply love those Brown Hyenas in KTP! Can't wait to see them myself! :D
