Lots and lots of AWCs Katydownunder! Beautiful! And the Owl peeping from the hole! What a great shot! I also love the Pearl Spotted Owlet, which we missed when we were there!

Yours and Francolin's eyes are really sharp!
It's amazing to see what stunning sightings your had
regarding the 'smaller' stuff: The odd couple (is the left
one a roller?), the rats, the owl peeping out of a trunk,
the mottled starling - wow! 8)

Love the rain colours at CL. Pretty! :D

And: Did you do a head count of the AWCs you saw
this time around? I lost track, but your sightings
of them sure must some up somewhere around twenty?! :hmz:

I really enjoy those ones peeping behind the tree, from the tree and those in the tree.
Thank you!

@ Pumbaa
Indeed a Wildcat trip

@ Anna-MarieSA
Keep my fingers crossed for a Wildcat sighting....

@ Cape of Storms

@ Sharifa
This is my most favourite Owl sighting 8)

@ Philip1
Thanx!

@ hilda
Oh you are already back again ?
How was your trip???

@ Lionspoon
The left one of the odd couple is indeed a Roller
The Kalahari rain colours are always so special and one of the reasons why we love to go in November....

No I didn't, but will maybe do so after ending the Trip Report, there are still some more sightings of them coming

13.11.

I had my very early morning coffee sitting outside, when I heard something go my right...
I checked the tree and indeed I found something, a Tree Rat, happily munching some greens.
I got my camera, sat very quiet and she returned again, maybe the green was just too tempting.

We left the camp early and were very surprised to find a small traffic jam at Sitzas.
Soon we discovered what caused it.

The Cheetah Mum with the three youngsters. We were delighted.
Sorry, that I have to post many, many pics that I took ( and these are still not all of them  )
But this was maybe our best Cheetah sighting ever.... 8)

Here comes Mum...

Must be very tiring to be a Mum of three very active youngsters...

An Eland was standing right in the waterhole, but now Mum wanted to have a drink. Observed the Eland and circled the waterhole. Then the Eland had enough and left.

Isn't it enormous how big the Eland head is in comparison to the Cheetah?!

Then they had the waterhole to themselves...

At one point the Cheetah Mum chased one of the Jackals, that was just too close, away.
He flew through the air and gave a howl.
We really thought that was the end of the Jackal, it was a narrow escape...

Very ambitious...

And then Mum left and the youngsters followed...

What a start of the day.... 8)

To be continued....

Thank you Pumbaa!
It was an awesome sighting, so much fun to watch the youngsters running around and play.
The whole sighting lasted a little more than 40 minutes

I am still smiling thinking about it and watching the pics and videos :D

 What a superb way to start any morning...All your pics and videos are so amazing... super special.

Awesome the interaction of the little fluffies ...they are adorable at that age. ...Mom is teaching them well, they are learning fast, all are aware how to pounce on prey and go for the throat.

Very little water in the trough if any...all seem to go right in...coming out dry. :hmz:

Yes Katydownunder, our trip was wonderful, but far too short! :D

Lovely Cheetah sighting! Those little ones are very active, which must be very tiring for the mom, but I think she enjoys every minute with them!

The Eland is beautiful, and indeed very big compared to the small Cheetahs! Beautiful pictures and videos!

@ MM
Thank you!

@ Trrp-trrrrrrrr
Thank you!
The Elands literally emptied the waterholes during the night.
You could see that there must be at least a few drops of water still in the waterhole, as the Mum was licking her mouth after having a drink.

@ hilda
I did read that you are already making plan for a next, longer trip....
Well that's how it starts...

The Cheetahs were havinga great time and the youngsters were super cute

@ melph68
The sighting was awesome, can you imagine how big the smile on our faces was during the whole time?!
Well, it was just the start of the day

I just found your trip report and am thoroughly enjoying reading it and seeing all your wonderful pictures. Thanks so much for sharing. We are planning a trip to KTP for a year from now and I'm truly not sure how I can wait so long! I'll just have to live vicariously through your "traveler tale".
