Thank you anne-marie, Nina!, Sharifa, Tony T, RichardJ, barryels, GavinW and hilda!

This year was certainly different - year of the eland, the lions, the flashers, the brownies, the babes...and more!

Hi Wanderw, sorry to say only just caught up with your trip report but thanks. Brings back wonderful memories even though we were less fortunate with our sightings at Grootkolk.

Great to see you here Tony T!

What a great Brownie sighting markw and wanderw! Beautiful big Lion too!

The picture with the Brownie and the BBJ next to him is also very special!

Thanx hilda! :D The jackal and brownie seemed to get along fine - :hmz: I think the brownie was too worried about the lion to care about anything else.

Philip - The lion did seem uncomfortable and seemed to struggle to rest his head without been stabbed. We were hoping that quill would work its way out over a bit of time.

Thanx Pumbaa! The Ludwig's was our only sighting of the trip, so although quite far, it was very special for us.

We heard a rumour that the 4 cheetahs we saw near Ljiersdraai were actually 5 until recently.

@Katy - Your TR is going to be a hard act to follow, but will try our best. Here goes...

For our afternoon drive we headed north. The sky was threatening to say the least.

We came around a corner and were confronted by a honey badger snuffling under a tree, with 2 PCG’s hanging around close by. Well, soon as the HB saw the car, he took off, too fast for a pic. :wall:

At Union’s End picnic site we met the now famous King of beasts wrapped around a tree.

Image

A really cute kitty!

He definitely had quite a presence.

Licking his lips? :hmz:

He moved to the other side of the picnic table.

Would you rest your behind on this seat?

We headed to the Union’s End waterhole but everything was quiet. Weatherwise it was a different matter.

Image

Turning around, we checked on the King one last time and headed back.

A juvie PCG trying to perch in a tree.

And then  we were in the most amazing storm...

To be continued once the page turns.
