We moved into the hide, with plenty of space and on the right hand corner we could see in front and to the side.

Some big kit was set up, pointing at the Goliath Heron and it sounded like a machine gun the way it shot continiously.

Lots of birds around...two pods of Hippo...and an Egyption Goose that was making a lot of noise.

Soon the hide filled up.

A visitor asked if there were any Malachites around....I replied no. When we left SO asked me what a Malachite was  I explained, the King Fisher that was on the stamp....

The Goliath Heron was in centre stage...prime position....Splash...action....

No ! no ! it not the camera fault... the Goliath was very skilful, it put the fish on the right sens to swallow the head in first... to have no problem with the scale

Richard, you and your SO were simply blessed. Leopard so quickly after you entered, and then that best of sightings-Goliath Heron catching a fish @ LP. So glad you have discovered this place-its mega addictive. Methinks the Heron has learned a lesson from the encounter with the fish eagle-swallow the fish as soon as possible. Such a wonderful sighting.
Pumbaa- Lake Panic has an abundance of fish-considering the amount of nutients that come from all teh hippo's #$%@ and bird guano. And to think it feeds all the herons, Kingfishers, darters, comorants and crocodiles.
Super photography! Those camera's do sound liek machine guns-I think I heard that the fastes is the Nikon @ 12 frames per second> Phew.
