I actually think those "artistic" shot of the vultures are really good - especially the second picture!

That waxbill is quite a cute little bird.
Really loved the photo of the springboks at the Nossob watering hole, and I'm a big fan of the meerkats - just lovely!

And you got a great picture of it, too. wow.

I also love to hear lions calling. It's a beautiful sound.

Day 8
28/10/2012 Nossob

The morning started off with a visit to the hide. Boy, I was glad that I was there

Going out from a drive at Nossob always yields the difficult question whether to go up north or down south. The north had offered some good sightings, the south only from Kaspersdraai further on south. Still, we decided to persist and give Marie se Gat another chance. We got at least something more than the usual suspects, but *yawn* those cats were getting tiresome. I wanted cheetah! Caracal! Honey badger! Porcupine! Leopard! Whatever! But no more lions!

So, the lovebirds were resting close to the waterhole…


…when the Missus decided that she had enough of the approaching cars and got up…


…and her bodyguard looked a bit confused…


…but obeyed quietly and followed….


…hoping for some action a bit further away from the cars…


…however the Missus was not in the mood…


…still her bodyguard took his job very serious and made sure that his usually partner in crime wouldn’t come too close…


…who in turn looked rather sorry for himself…


…while the personal guard looked relatively pleased with himself and his fending off tactics.

BTW, later that morning we found yet another three lions underneath a tree far off in the Nossob riverbed a bit north of Kwang. They still hadn’t moved in the afternoon.

Phew, glad to hear that I'm not the only one who is sometimes a bit camera challenged!

So do I At the moment we got the night from the 23rd to the 24th.

Sorry, the little one was gone before I was able to shoot more. Actually, I'm quite happy that the only pic I was allowed didn't end up in a complete blur. It was my first time to see one as well - and I totally understand your wish to see one. I was very happy to finally being graced with the visible presence of one as well.
