Henk At Last!! Going to Kruger again. June 2012

Unread postby Henk » Wed Jun 27, 2012 9:15 am

Hi all

I am so excited! We are leaving a wet and cold Western Cape over the weekend on our way to Kruger for the first time in 8 years.
This will be my first trip with a caravan (To Kruger) so I don't really know what to expect.
I did however dicided to try to do a live TR(or as live as possible).
The plans were to leave at 4h00 on Saterday morning and to sleep at Gariep Dam near Colesberg for the first night.
Now I'm thinking to leave on Friday afternoon and sleep in Karoo NP for the first night. This will depend on getting everything done before then. It would help if I get on with work rather than posting here!

Anyway. We will be in Kruger from the 3rd of July, 2nights in Malelane, 3 in Skukuza and 3 in Pretoriuskop.
I hope to report on good sitings and looks foprward to the break with the family. My 2 sons (11 and 14) are this year for the first time both in bording school, so this will be a good time together.

Regards
Henk

So by late this afternoon we got away at last. We arrived at Karoo NP tonight @ 20h30. We saw a beautiful kudu on our way to camp crossing the road and set up camp in record time. After a nice braai we are now going to bed and wants to leave early morning, because we got about 700 km to do tomorow. On our way back home we will spend a whole day here.

It feels so good to be on our way!!!

Tomorow night we're staying at Aldam estate north of Bloemfontein.

Regards
Henk

I tried to start posting pics, but struggled to resize the pics. At the end I had to start the braai and decided to leave the pics till after the trip. We had a great time so far with most of the animals. We saw lions for the first time today. Yesterday we so 9 rhinos in total.
Me and SO are going to do a nightdrive in Skukuza tonight. Will report on this tomorrow.
