Jan van Wyk Lilac-breasted Roller and the Grasshopper Jul'12

Unread postby Jan van Wyk » Mon Jul 02, 2012 8:47 pm

We visited Kruger and had wonderful sightings (big five) but want to share a series of images of the Roller eating his lunch.

The Lilac-breasted Roller is a resident and with his beautiful colours create the perfect image in Winter.

We love to take the gravel roads away from the traffic and found the Roller with his Grasshopper.

The sad story is that the light was on the wrong side for that winning shot but, with a little bit of luck my timing was perfect with the Grasshopper in the air. He then flew to the road and pose for a few more images.

Hope you enjoy the images

Add a few images from another roller on the same road to show the beautiful colours
