Sorry all, I wanted to write this yesterday already.........
I have the kind of work that gets me onto the long road from time to time, which results in me always trying to fit in a national park along the way if I can. It is usually a one-night-stand and I have managed to get to most of our national parks over the years.....bar for some that are really out of the way. One park that has eluded me is Mountain Zebra, but I managed to get there on Tuesday night earlier this week.........so here is a brief account of my one-night-stand.
After leaving home early on Tuesday, I was already halfway to the Eastern Cape when I realized I left my camera battery on charge in my office. I'm not a hot-shot photographer, but always have my camera and lens with me on these trips, which meant I was already dreading the prospect of getting to Mountain Zebra and not being able to capture pics of good sightings. I was reduced to my cell phone camera.........its like being asked to compete in the Durban July on a donkey!!! But alas I had no choice.
I got to the park late afternoon and on the drive in to camp saw some of the more common antelope. For those that have not been at Mountain Zebra before, the camp is comfortable and well laid out. All in all a nice experience.
When I travel to these parks, I have a very standard (very delicious) meal.
I'll be posting the great sightings of the next morning shortly.
