I am being a little cheeky today, as I have posted this sighting (with different pics) somewhere on the forums but I couldnt resist sharing it again with those that havent seen it.
As it left me (something which I am NOT known for) SPEECHLESS!!!!!

One of my magical moments in Kruger is captured by this photo.
I had not been to the Kruger, or any African park, for over twenty years and when I did go I rarely got good leopard sightings. On our first full day in the park, early Sept 2011, we came across a leaopard kill in a tree but no leopard. We waited though, and eventually a female leopard appeared and shortly afterwards she was joined by her two cubs.
This phot captures the first of the cubs checking us carefully before going up for his supper.
That day we saw all the big 5.

And here are a few pictures of mother leopard.
The second cub was much more timid and the mother spent a lot of time trying to coax it up onto the kill. She did not succeed whilst we were there but unfortunately we could not stay long as it wa getting close to camp gate closing time.

Correct! There are rumours of the Ugly 7 but I am not sure about these? I know Marabou Stork, Warthog and hyeana are meant to be part of them, but not certain. Does anyone have further insight??????

Beautiful pictures SurfCindy! :clap: :clap:

Some might be incorrect, but let me try:

A = Bateleur.
B = Not 100% sure, but this could be a Steppe Buzzard.
C = Verreaux's Eagle Owl.
D = Martial Eagle.
E = Another Bateleur.

How can anyone hurt these beautiful animals......

So sad that one day we will possibly be telling our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren "these are what rhinos look like, they use to exist"

Thanks Sharifa and Hilda for your comments

A trip to Kruger is not only about the BIG things but also about the little things. These little feathered guys are what makes trips/drives so special

Red headed weaver (I think)

Image
IMG_7975 by rcferreiras, on Flickr

A black bellied bustard (again.....I think)

Image

A fish eagle (my favourite call for a bird)
