Hope all is well! Thank you so much for following along and encouraging me to stick with the TR. I'm really starting to think about coming back this November and would really like to meet you guys. The back is the same. Had more injections last week that helped for a day or so..... The Lord is in control, so I'm sure he has a plan.

Hi Friends,

I took a much needed break from posting after I finished my trip report. I logged on tonight and finished responding to all of the comments posted by those had followed so faithfully. Hilda was the very first person to comment when I first started the TR in the very beginning stages when the trip was first booked nearly a year ago and commented on every posting thereafter. You are all the reason that making the effort of writing a TR is worth while. Thank you again!

I have been reading about the floods in the Park and am saddened by the fact that so many of the places that we were able to enjoy have been so badly damaged, many of them still closed. Hopefully the rebuilding is speedy and the impacted employees are well taken care of. South Africa is a beautiful country with so much to offer, but highest on the list is the people!!!



I found this one on Facebook of Mike and I standing on the overlook of Orpen Dam. While we were there a small herd of Elephant approached the dam from below us. It was such an amazing experience to be there in the open with these awesome animals so close.

Mike also talked me into shooting in RAW during this trip. I had never done so because of how much memory it takes up and I usually don't do much with post processing. I started shooting RAW towards the end of day 2 and I will never switch back to just jpeg. I have found several photos that were completely unusable in their original state, but with some MAJOR editing of the RAW image, they are at least recognizable for what they are.



This Broad Billed Roller is grainy, but the original picture is just a dark blob on a branch with the poor lighting. At least you can see what it is now. Same thing for the Wahlbergs Eagle below.

I just do not know how to thank you for your words, pictures and your loyalty to us South Africans.
Please come back and I too would like to have the chance of a chat in Kruger. I will be there in November this year.
Not to worry too much about the flooding, nature heals the wounds created by man, but oh for the poor Rhino of our land.

Thank you Daron! I have enjoyed your trip report so much, I just couldn't overlook a single posting! I thank you again for a most enjoyable report with stunning pictures too! Thank you also for these last awesome pictures!

I honestly hope your back problems come to an end! I only have problems with my 2 metal plates and 6 screws when it is very cold, or when there is a thunderstorm on the way. I can predict the weather better than the weather bureau! Otherwise I am fine.

We will be in KNP from 9 October 2013 and return home on 19 October 2013. Maybe you could try and match these dates? We would love to meet you and your family!

How sad that this winderful TRhas come to an end, but looking forward to you posting some other pics from your trip. So sorry to hear of the back problems-hang in there and persevere, it sure to get better soon.
And I see the hackers are at it again, with one of your images replaced with a pic of Rihana (I think that is her name) but at least not as unsavoury as the last one.
In any case, what a FABULOUS TR, most enjoyable, and you obviously love KNP, and the people of SA. That is wonderful, despite the odd nasty ones here and there.
The Lord is indeed in control

Although the raw ones took many space on the laptop and it is taking endlessly to have pictures downloaded and safed but I would never take any without the RAW ones - So keep it like that, Daron

Just catching up again. Things have been pretty hectic lately.

I'm just as sad as you to see your fabulous trip come to an end as you were. Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I've enjoyed every single moment.

Maybe we'll meet up one day in a country that we both love.

I have 39 pages of catching up to do!!!!

I'll maybe get some done tonight though I am dog-sitting at the moment for a tiny puppy who is more mischievious than a naughty child. Every time I look up, something else has been chewed!!!
