Unread postby Aardvark » Thu Jan 19, 2012 12:26 pm

This is my first trip report, so go gentle on me :)
I took the advice from alot of people and will do one camp at a time. So lets start...

Skukuza
This was our first stop on January the 8th, we spend 3 days in Skukuza, where we explored all the roads around the camp.
Here is my top 3 photos from Skukuza :

I learned to do panoramic shots, this was my first attempt on Lake Panic

I have created an album here that i will upload more photos soon (just need to start resizing them)
I will also do Satara and Pretoriuskop later today or tomorrow :) so watch this space

Hi fee,

I will try to explain how i did this, but if this makes no sense, here is a nice topic on HowToGeek

1) I setup my camera (Im using the 1100D) on a tripod and i use a wider lens (18-55).
2) I then use a manual focus to avoid the camera focusing on a branch or something else
3) IMPORTANT : Shoot once image lets start at the right, then turn your camera half a frame left (so now half of the previous image is still on the new image)
4) Continue this until you feel is good
5) I use Photoshop CS3 - i then select the following options :
i) File >> Automate >> Photomerge
ii) Drop all the images in the SourceFile section
iii) Then select OK, and let Photoshop do the rest, then just crop the image to the correct size

Hope this makes some sense :)

So my story continues....Sorry for the Slow internet users, there is more pictures

After Skukuza we left for Satara, and before we get to the pictures a little story

On our way to Satara we were stopped by a car, and was told there were lions on our route. When we got there (not more than 1KM from Satara), there were hundreds of cars, 3 lions sleeping in a bush (literately inside) - Visibility about 2/10 and no-one wanted to give us space to watch or take photos, so we left. The next morning at 4:30 everyone left to go back to the 3 lions, but we took the S100 (and the roads around it), and found about 12 lions just laying on a nice open field - we were about 4 cars, everyone had a perfect view. And we had them for about an hour before all the lions got up and left.
Here is a photo i took :

The next day on our way to visit Orpen, we found about 10 lions feasting on a Zebra, while Jackal and Hyena were watching from the side, one Hyena got hold of a leg and was running around while another was chasing him  . We were about 3 cars and we were there for about an hour and a half until the lions left, in perfect view of everything :

I have some video that i will upload soon

Further down the road we found 3 lions, in full view in the road, we were 2 cars, then onother one joined just before they left :

We took a trip to Olifants and i took this shot on the Viewing Deck :

I have created a new web album and uploaded it here

And now for the last part of the trip report...

From Satara we took the H1-3 down to Tshokwane for a nice egg and bacon breakfast (ugh, now im hungry), from there we took the H1-2 to Skukuza to waste some time before taking the H1-1 to Pretoriuskop.
On our way we saw the Mathekenyane lookout point...WOW!!! isnt that amazing
(Btw : I had another panoramic shot of Mathekenyane, but something went wrong :( i think i might have shot it on Automatic :( )

One day we took a trip to Afsaal using the H2-2 then H3 back to Pretoriuskop we found two Cheetahs in the road with bellies full of food just strolling next to about 3 cars (we had them for about 30min untill cars started to pile up...so we left to give other cars a chance)
