W™ and Laine and the girls in Southern Kruger Aug 2011

Here are a few photos from our trip over the weekend.

We managed to scrape together the big 5 with a lioness on the last morning on our way out to Phabeni gate. 2 Leopards, a big male near Skukuza and a female near Napi boulders. A Honeybadger fishing at a small waterhole next to Transport dam was another highlight. Transport dam was a good spot to visit, lots of Hyena because of a den site on the entrance road to it. Buff and many other general game.

Sunset dam is a hotspot at the moment too, especially for migrating waders.

Most of the animals are concentrated around the major watercourses, so for those of you who are heading out there soon, stay along the major rivers and waterholes.

Thanks everyone!

DB, Laine will have to post the next batch of photos.

We mainly take photos of birds, so animals tend to get neglected. But I am sure Laine has a few she can share.

I was surprised at the amount of Nyala we saw between Skukuza and Lower Sabie. And the amount of crocs! Wow!

Mpondo dam, Transport Dam, Sunset dam were some of the best places to visit as is the Sabie river.

We saw a lone Tsetsebe on the Fayi loop and yes, the Voortrekker road was still closed.
