Unfortunately our last full day in Kruger had arrived....
Johan had told us the day before that he saw Wild Dogs on the way from Phalaborwa back to the camp and that he thinks that they are still in the area moving to the south.
So we got up very early and left the camp at gate opening.
We drove the main road up and down again for a couple of times, without success
Ok, we missed them once again, although we had been very close this time...
So we decided to drive to Sable Dam Hide one more time.
On the way we had another of those KNP roadblocks, a herd of Buffalos.. Larger View Larger View
And later we spotted two Warthogs... Larger View
Coming closer to the main road we had the feeling that we needed a toilet stop and so we drove to Masorini Picnic Spot.
Here I found this little Froggy in the toilet paper holder Larger View
At Sable Dam we had Ellis like the day before... Larger View Larger View

Sable Dam is a beautiful hide. Very large and spacious.Larger View
But I really love the wonderfully handpainted plates of the south african birds in the hide (unfortuantely I forgot to have a look who painted them...

We were back at the camp and just started to prepare lunch when we saw that a huge breeding herd of Ellis was walking down towards the river. Larger View Larger View
Meanwhile a couple of Grey Louries were feeding on the fruits of the trees in the camp. Larger View
And one of the Squirrels was observing us... Larger View
Wonderful Ellis. Larger View Larger View
We even had a better view from the hide Larger View Larger View Larger View Larger View
Too cute, don't you think?!
Later I took a walk through the camp towards the reception.
Still had to get our exit permit

The last evening
But we enjoyed sitting outside and listened to the sounds of the bush.
Already now we knew that we will return to Shimuwini one of our favourite camps and of course return to Kruger
Today we are driving to the airport.
Last pic I took in the camp, is of this sign at the reception... Larger View
On the way to the airport we saw loads and loads of Ellis, most of them too close for comfort on the small roads of Shimuwini....
Quite a few breeding herds as well.
All of them on the way to the river.
I just think they bid us farewell
