We were in the park in December 2010 staying at Berg-en-dal. Ons Christmas day on our way to Tshokwane we were driving slowly, embracing every inch of nature. Since there was alot of baby impala at the time, being so cute and all, we stopped to watch them all cross the road. While we were sitting there watching the last one cross the road suddenly gracefully running in front of the car was a leopard. The Impala didn't even make a noise so they were clearly unaware of his presence. As he ran into the bush, my friend picked up the camera to take a photo of the leopard, suddenly realising what was going to happen, she asked me nicely to please drive. On one hand I can kick myself for driving away, since you do not see this happen often, but on the other hand I was glad I didn't stop to watch.Although it is nature and he must eat,I do not know if it is something that I really want to see.Next time it happens I will watch but close my ears so that I can hear the Impala dying. Thought I would share this little story with all.

Nice sighting

As for kills I wouldve loved to see a leopard hunt Ive never seen that, Ive seen a cheetah which was cripple hunting and lions, wild dogs how they ripped a zebra to pieces that was really brutal to witness but it was an experience and then their was lions which caught a Hippo mom and her baby, at that stage my 4year old was 2 at the time and she saw it today she still remembers that scene, she always says "mommy those lions were very naughty they did hurt that hippo and her baby ag shame oooe eina ag shame"

Like I said I can kick myself for not staying :wall: , but maybe next time, think it would have been better if the Impala was old and it was survival of the fittest, but they were so small and still babies. :?

Warm welcome Charmaine,

I feel that its a personal choice what one wants to witness in the park, we all have preferences.
I personally have never witnessed a kill and I am still not sure what my reaction will be, knowing that its nature at work so until then it will be :hmz:

welcome to the forum CharmaineN :D

... like already said... once in a life

I saw a Cheetah kill... the entire chasse... but, and happily, the "end" was behind a bush :(
not so easy to follow such an event :?
