it's time to open a new thread...
ten days, ten, until I take off for a looooong travel, with a lot of apointments ... everywhere in South Africa

Initially, we will be three and then...
It's new for me not be alone... I don't know yet how it will be

Right now, I'm struggle with my luggage, the weight of my luggage
I put, I take off, I place, I remove again a real problem

it's a good idea Icurrie, but I have already thebag for cameras that I have to pretend that is not heavy at all

on the right : cameras/charger... in the middle : 27 kg..... on the right backbag



each appliance has his own charger when there will do only one

Now i can see the "big bag ".27kg ,
And ,the shoulder bag for cameras ,lenses , not small at all
Fortunately there are luggages trolleys in the airports

And you will have two buddies in the park to help you if needed
Very glad to be one of them

The boys (and SO) did'nt wanted to come with me this year,so i will feel a little reassured to discover the park with a KTP addict ...

and happy to learn some more English with our saffie friend

I have not even decided which bag/suitcase to take and you are already packed!

Lots to do this week before I leave on Tuesday, meeting Anne-marie at OR Tambo airport for our flight to Upington

Thanks for all the nice comments and wishes for our trip, I'm sure it is going to be awesome! Unbelievable to think we are already on page 6 and our trip has not even started yet!

So now, Anne-Catherine is already on her way, Anne-marie is leaving this afternoon and I'll leave at 6am tomorrow to meet Anne-marie at OR Tambo airport for our 9:20am flight to Upington. We will meet up with Anne-Catherine and go shopping for all supplies for 3 weeks.

We'll be leaving for Twee Rivieren on Wednesday morning and then the adventure starts.

Well it is now just after 8pm and I just had a call from London Heathrow airport to let me know that Anne-Marie's plane were delayed to London, which means she missed her plane to South Africa! She will be on a later flight and will only arrive in Johannesburg at 10:30 am. Our plane are leaving for Upington at 9:20 am! Which means she will be missing that plane too...

She will now arrive in Upington at 5:15 pm. I will be picked up at the airport and will be taken to the guesthouse, and will go shopping with Anne-Catherine in the meantime... waiting for Anne-Marie! I hope she is not too stressed now!

Anne-Catherine and I are sitting in Brown's Manor guest house in Upington, wind blowing outside, and it just started to rain lightly, my favourite kind of weather. Our rental cars will be here soon, and we will be going to Pick 'n Pay to do the shopping for the next 3 weeks.

Anne-marie has arrived at last and we are having supper at La Boheme guest house, what a beautiful evening it is!

We have arrived in Twee Rivieren after stopping for lunch at Molopo lodge I still can't believe I'm really here after almost a year of planning and looking forward to this trip!
We filled the two 4x4's up with a lot of water and wood and ice this morning.
Having an early night as we will be going on a morning walk at 5:30 am.

WOW what a day!
We started off with the morning walk from Samevloeiing with Kalahari Guru and saw some Oryx, Springbuck and Wildebeest. It was a perfect morning with a beautiful sunrise. Bush Baptist and some overseas friends walked with us.
On the way back to Twee Rivieren, about 500 meters from Samevloeiing, 2 cheetahs under a tree! We were so excited to see our 1st predators on our 1st day.
We went for a drive again and found the cheetahs again, in a different position. We stayed with them for about an hour and decided to move on. Went all the way to Auchterlonie, checked out the museum and then back to Twee Rivieren with Anne Catherine going on to Kieliekrankie where she is staying for 2 nights.
When we got back to where the cheetahs were earlier, we saw 4 cheetahs walking in the direction of Samevloeiing! We followed of course There is a big pool of water in the road and they all had a drink right there in the road! They passed so close to our car we could touch them if the car weren't so high
This absolutely made our day, or so we thought, but another great sighting was yet to come!
We went on a night drive tonight and the first sighting was a juvenile Giant eagle owl, we were not even through the park gate yet. We also saw 2 spotted eagle owls, black backed jackals, cape foxes and spring & scrub hares. But the highlight of the evening was most certainly a brown hyaena walking in the road and then had a drink about 30 meters from us! What a sighting!
Tomorrow we are off to Urikaruus and then Nossob, Grootkolk, Kalahari Tent Camp and Kieliekrankie which means we will not have any cellphone reception again for the next few days, so if there is a signal somewhere we will send an update through.

We are sitting at the airport in Upington, I'm flying to Johannesburg and Anne-marie to Cape Town.
Not a lot of talking going on... we did NOT want to leave Kgalagadi.

Maybe I will do my own pictorial trip report with mostly photos for now, and leave this one for when Anne-marie is back home end of May so we can all post more detail together

and the festival continue.... with a lot of new forumites
and a so good party... thanks to Caracal and Doug and everyone
just a little bit tired this morning

I am back at home after 16 wonderful days in the park , and as Katy says ,the trip is already over

Thanks for all your wishes ,and yes it was a beautiful trip :the park was spendid , red dunes,blue sky,yellow and purple flowers, grass and plants in all the tints of green.

Some big thunderstorms though with heavy rains but late in the evening or at night ,so as we were not campers , we didn't mind at all .

I was travelling in my own rental 4X4 car ( really think it's a must for this park ) and sleeping in my own bungalows ,while Anne-Marie and Click-Click were together , so usually if we tried to spend the evening all together braiing ( with some cooking lesson's from Click-Click ) , we did'nt always drove the same roads and had the same sightings .

I met a lot of forumites while driving ,and it was nice to have a little chat with them and exchange about our respective sigtings.

It's now a lot of work to sort out all the pics , i hope i will find the time to do a little short tale report and leave this one for Anne-Marie still for several weeks in South Africa,and soon in Kruger ,what a chance
