Rather a bit late than never. I would like to share our experience of the cricket weekend and a little bit of “behind the scenes” with everyone. Hope you enjoy!

Friday morning 8:00
We entered the park at Malelane gate. Our first sighting were two of the 101 000 Imapala’s – beautiful. Five minutes later a pretty lioness, ‘walking down the street.’ Unfortunately very skinny and hungry. Was looking for something to eat.

We passed a group of Zebra and a few ellies along the way.
Image
Just as we turned on the S113 a few cars were standing in front of the road. We made a u-turn out of curiosity, and found these four lazy four fellow’s lying in the shade.

Image
A giraffe lightened up my son’s eyes when he saw it first.
Image
We drove to Skukuza to get ready for our first practice session for our Angels at 15:00. Luckily we had help from our fellow formites.

Ready for action we left the cricket field to get ready for the braai.

Saturday morning 06:30

The cricket started at 8:00, but we had to get a practice round in before that. It started with a few ballade lessons

But we were very serious and tried to be prepared for the battle ahead.

And our own professional photographer – she’s got evidence that we really tried our best.

No probs Michel, thanks for your input.
O Yea! You're right about Cheeterah. (Sorry forgot for a moment - my memory not sooo good anymore.)
On my first cricket photos, the lady - in the nets - in blue is Nibbles.

A few wonderful catches and a Coach who showed us how. (Tshukudu)

The rest is old news, and don't need any further discussion.
We really enjoyed ourselves and had a lot of laughs. At one stage one of us slipped and landed on the ground with both feet in the air, but she crawled back to the crease, not able to stand because she laughed to much.

The dinner was excellent!! Compliments to the Sheffs!
Unfortunately we left our stuff on the table, while greating afterwards, at the table next to ours, when I turned, my Doll was missing, someone else decided she needs it more than me. I was very disappointed  angry . A very nice lady - Elzet gave me one of hers, Thanks Elzet!

We met Clifford (and his wife Sarie), the man behind the Webcams in KNP. He is staying in Skukuza, and is responsible for the Orpen and Satara webcams. Thank you Clifford for your contribution.

And then the night drive back to camp. Wow! Scary, the only car in the jungle, but not even a bird, no eyes, nothing. Still an adventure!

To be continued ....

Hi to all of my fellow angels!!!!!

I know that this is a bit late, (I had to tie Baffers down to a chair so that I could have some time on the Laptop) but thank you to you all for a wonderful weekend. :D I never wanted to play in the past, because I was too shy. But I'm glad I did this year, it was soooo much fun!! I must say it's much nicer to be involved than to just sit and watch from a distance. I will definatly play next year again, if I'm aloud to.

Now to comment on these pictures. :cam: All I can remember so vividly is that it was FREAKEN HOT on Friday at practice. I looked like a beetroot. Hopefully next year's game will be a bit later in the year. I think the Gautengies struggles a bit with our heat. All the ladies looked suave. That's the difference between us and the men, we make it look good!!! Yeah baby

It was so nice to meet all of you. I suck with names and now there's two sets of names to remember real names & forum names :wall: I need faces with the names. Ok let me see if I have this right :hmz:

Cornie - Forum name ?
? - Babe one
Shanon - ?
Saskia - ?
? - Lee lee
Danielle - ?
Agnus - ?
? - Scorpion

And the rest of the ladies I can't remember either of their names. Sorry Ladies. I know all of you gave me your names already but I can't remeber. I will have to get a little red book (not black) to write in all the names. Or maybe I should just be more active on the forum.

Oh well I just wanted to say thanks and I hope I will see all of you again next year. Otherwise there will be new names to remember :?

Cheerio

Sunday morning
I was quite stiff and couldn’t walked properly. Needless to say, we started very slowly.

We drove up towards Tshokwane, and got hold of a few special moments on our small camara.
Then, one of those moments I wished we had a better camara.
Image

Image

The Batteleur caught his prey and ripped it apart in front of our eyes.

Not far from there, we saw this guy …
Image

Image

He had to scratch were it itch.

and this Giant Kingfisher
Image

While driving we realized that the bush is so beautiful and green, unfortunately for us, you don't see that many animals, but wonderful for them. It was raining softly earlier and the heat of the past two days were gone. Suddenly this bushbuck crossed the road infront of us. Luckily I was playing with the camara and was ready to take the shot.

Image

Further on, we got the privilege to see the pack of wilddogs near Leeupan. We saw about 17, of the 27 restless doggies, they ran up and down the rocks at the Kruger Tablets.
Image

Image

At leeupan we came upon impala and this peaceful Ellie, minding his own business.
Image

We drove back and left the park at Phabeni gate, but not before this proud waterbuck greated us.
Image

What a wonderful weekend. Thanx a lot to SANPARKS, everyone who was involved with the arrangements, the MOD’s and most off all the SUPPORTERS. We really enjoyed it and if possible at all we wouldn’t miss the 2011 cricket weekend for anything in the world.
