Oumie was unable to connect to the forums yesterday and has asked me to let you all know that:

Quote:
We are in the Park 7 days earlier. Game is scare, the grass is high and there is plenty of water in the park - nice and green.

Have a great time Oumie!!!

Message from Oumie!

Quote:
At last we saw a pair of mating lions late yesterday at Renosterkoppies dam. Went back early this morning, saw them, but they were lying at the natural dam, a bit far to take photos.

Took the S21 towards Nkulu and saw more lions, 2 male and 2 female resting under the shade. Had our coffee and rusks while watching them. After a while you could not see them as they flopped down for a sleep in the long grass.

Not far from the lion we saw a herd of buffalo, they were all lying down having a rest. Nice morning drive indeed.

Very nice drive Oumie

Oumie messaged today to say that they managed to get 2 nights at Balule from Monday and that Skukuza is very busy and noisey.
Quote:
The mating lions are still at Renoserkoppies. Been there for 3 days now.

Oumie sent a message yesterday to say they were at Balule and it was so lovely and quiet!

Quote:
Wow, the peace and quiet is great. The temp here was 39.5 today!

We saw an old lioness on the side of the road, shame it looked very thin and old, had big sores on her, she was eating something but we could not see what it was. Then on our way back to camp we saw 2 black rhino crossing the road in the distance, tried to get closer to take a photo but they just fled into the bush!

Quote:
"Saw four of the big 5 on our way here early yesterday (Monday) morning, then a heard of elephants outside fence at 3pm while having our tea."

Oumie is having such great sightings!

Wednesday:
"We saw huge pride of lions 5km from Satara, lots of cubs. Could only take photos of 2 little cubs close to the road that were left behind by the mother who went with the rest of the pride to drink water. We hope she will fetch them soon!"

This morning:
"The day before we saw 22 lions with cubs 5km from Satara. Yesterday we saw them again on the S90 a kilometer from where we saw them the day before on the tar road. Further on the S90, two big males resting.

Then while we had breakfast at N'wanetsi, we heard lions roar. Everyone dashed up to the viewpoint and there we saw them coming towards the river to cross over. They walked passed below the picnic spot off into the bush.

Needless to say, a lot of breakfasts were burned and spoiled. Pics of lions posted on our blog."

Will do so Gwen.

Oumie sms'd this evening to say that it has been "cold and rainy today."

Quote:
Did not go out today, seems everybody stayed indoors.
I am sure the rain is most welcome as always there ... as is a respite from the heat.

More news from Oumie this afternoon

Quote:
The animals are in hiding! Yesterday was very windy and slight drizzle. Was cold this morning, wind blowing strong. Decided to stay at camp because we see more outside camp than riding around!

Zebra and wildebeest right in front of camp, now a herd of buffalo resting near camp.

Went for a drive late morning, had brunch at Mundezine, on the way there met Salamanda.

Oumie had super sightings today, so sms'd to share with us!

Quote:
Just seen a leopard at Girivane, what a sight!

Saw elephants and a white rhino at the waterhole and now the leopard. Three of the big 5 in one afternoon at that waterhole.

More news from Oumie

Quote:
Animal sightings very scarce! Not the usual heards of zebra and impala, only 5 or six in a herd.

Saw a big herd of buffalo every 2 days near Nsemani dam. Saw lions early morning for the last 3 days at Girivane.

Two days ago, found a badly injured jackal lying on the road not far from the lions. Saw it had a badly broken back and lots of lion spoor around it. Pics and story on our blog.

Windy here today, and hot.
