After these few days of relative calm :? , it was time again to hit the road.
To my surprise I received the Bungalow No. 11A, on the hill, much too big for me, but beautiful. Near the fence, surrounded by flowering bushes, a lot of electrical outlet for recharge the devices, have a look at my photos on my laptop, and I think that Gert was for something. Thank you Gert!

Beginning quietly, I saw behind the Kanaguas's reservoir, a leopard, a beautiful female, pregnant, just for me!
I stayed with her for more than one hour, until she disappears in the bushes, then beyond the dunes.

A few km away, a puff adder in the middle of the road, oh what luck! ... she was crushed  at the height of the neck and I can only make the picture of a corpse, what a sadness. I have met the Erick's successor and they said that they crossed a car few time ago……

It seemed to me to be always surrounded by fire, smoke on all sides and all that mess.

I witnessed from the top of my hill of a beautiful sunset.

Even in a new bungalow there is bats and during the night one of them fell on my pillow, right next to my head. Time to take a photo to Batmad (sorry it is upside down) and I put it outside.

It was not so warm, but it disappeared quickly.

Well, I had to choose, north or south? I opted for the north.
Another good idea  2 km further, 3 cheetahs came in front me, a mother and her two youngs,

not realy in good health :?
maybe the same as I saw a few days earlier. They left the road, I turned and followed them

until a car came towards me and I showed them the cheetahs. Obviously they go to the Nossob's water hole. Neither one nor two, we are rushing to Nossob, run to the hide to see them far away, stopping from time to time ... but unfortunately continuing their journey.

à suivre...

At Kwang, some wildebeests were fighting to get a little water.

I booked a sunset drive, but we did not saw something of importance, except a beautiful sunset.

I met Dreamer. We had a drink with her family, she showed me some fabulous pictures of the 3 cheetahs, she left the next day to Grootkolk  What a great meet.

The next morning, very early, one knock on my door .... This is Penny, and we agree to an appointment in the evening in her bungalow.

I choose again the north. Still so little water in reserves and always animals who try to drink like these Srpingboks, where only 2 of them will find a solution
Image
here

a jackal has also tried to drink, with a little bit more success
Image
a jackal drinking water

Along the way, I saw circling vultures and landing in a kind of clearing, but far away. Unable to distinguish what was happening. But by enlarging the picture, a shape of a lion... and this could be a "kill".
Image

Flights incessant in a lot of dust. I want a better place to observe, useless, everything is hidden by bushes and trees. Too sad.

À suivre…

At Cubitje Quapa another surprise awaited me. A Secretary Bird in very bad mood,
Image

hunting all that moved : a compatriot, a bateleur, a tawny and even a Lappet-faced Vulture who dared to land at his sides

The eagles flew away and tried to come again several times.
The vulture did not intend it that way and the fight began. They used their legs,
as in the Kick Boxing (Thai boxing, I think) and it's the vulture who left the place !
The secretary bird finally left, and then the eagles could drink, side by side

even an Oryx came to have a drink

calm had returned

Returning to Nossob, in front of the reception, I saw this Agama clinging to a nice flower

I went to visit Penny and his friends over a drink.
During this time we heard the jackals and immediately we went to the hide in the dark, with torches, but nothing interesting :|
I even received a handmade keychain, with the colors of South Africa  Thank you Penny.
They too were going to go the next day to Grootlolk where they saw many more animals, of course the fire had passed!

Once more, I packed my bags to be ready to leave the next morning.

At KK I found again Jacques, he was at Urikaruus few days ago, and he had reserved for me the cabin No. 1. Phew, no stairs, not too much to carry, and Jaqcues helped me, as at Urikaruus.
I spent the rest of the afternoon on the balcony watching the birds, and the waterhole, where a Jackal came to drink, again a Jackal drinking water

The next day I decide to go, for the last time, watch the small hyenas
The only one adult present gone and the babies, come into the den

Then I continue to Mata Mata by the small loops.
A good initiative.
I found a Giant Eagle owl in its nest and observing more closely, after a few minutes, a little ball of fur .... :hmz: ... of feathers appeared. A baby owl, cute, curious, he craned his neck to peep what was going a little bit lower

Later I found 2 lions who did not seem in realy good health. They disappeared rather quickly behind the dunes

I made a fire, as always... painfully, all was ready for the cooking

I ate under the (nearly)full moon, at Kiliekrankie the ceiling is made of wood with spaces, the moon pierce
I read the book, and I find this note

And… again I put all the things in my bags…. this time for the last two days :(

Thanks again Anne-Marie,

the last snake is definitely not a black mamba (I would go for a mole snake here) as "black" mambas are more greyish/greenish - a bit more like the first snake you posted here.

However, love to be back at KK again, however, again changing camp

And I take again the road ....
Before leaving KK I still have a few photos of birds that come to greet my departure.

First, I'm going to Kij Gamies where I found some Oryx and beautiful flowers

Then I wanted to go 1 or 2 km further, and to my stupefaction, at my right, almost at hand, a pair of lions just for me, for about 1/2 hours. Eventually they stood up and climb the dunes. A car arrived and I showed them the two lions on the crest
Image

I retraced my steps, en route to TR, I still found a Steenbok
Image
here
an Acacia Rat ?
Image
here
the remains of a "lions's braai" and again a snake, a Mole Snake ?…
Image
here

About 20 km before TR, wow  6 lions lying on the side of the road, I can almost touch them, at maximum 10 metres
Image
here

What a beautiful sight. Wildebeest and Springbog were "frozen" on the other side of the road, not daring to go drink.
Image
here

I stayed over an hour to observe and photograph.
Image
the fly

Image
the hug

Image
coucou

the moustache

Image
the heavy head

And I continued my journey towards TR.
I met Nighthawk on the road.

À suivre …

Wonderful again :D

I have a very small reference to Acacia Rats.

Acacia Rat
Thallomys paeduculas

ID Fairly large arboreal mouse; long, rounded, thin ears; dark ring around eyes; soft pale grey to fawnish yellow upperpart; white underparts; 13cm.

Habitat Mainly acacia tress in savanna woodland; dry to moist areas; lives in tree hole sand emerges at night.

The next day I tried the blow... see if the lions ... Yes, they are still there, there are even one more
Image
here

and a lioness lying on the other side, a little bit further
Image
banished ?

I left them a moment to return in the dunes, just before the small loop, I found a bunch of wildebeest who was warming in the sun
Image
here
then a Kohraan and again a snake, a Mole snake? a black mamba?
Image
here
it's very difficult to take a picture of snakes, they are always in motion and out of focus.
And another one, two colors, striped, it ran away, no time to have a photo.

I immerse myself in dunes, I print them in my mind… the color, shapes, for not forget them... :cam:
and I go back to the lions.
Image
wow these teeth
Image
the twins asleep
Image
veiling the face

This time 3 or 4 cars was there, including one with a sunroof and 2 children, the body almost entirely out of the car, at 10 meters maximum of 7 lions, lying on the slope in the side of the road, in a jump one lion can be in the car, stuck, but in the car  and this without counting the Lioness 50 metres behind

à suivre ...
