 on the yellow mongoose! Everyone referred to them as suricates and I just assumed.......!

Today was long and tiring and not helped by a wait in Skukuza for my friend to get and sign his freelance contract. Roads were busy, but we got to Olifants in good time and I was actually able to make it back here just at gate closing time. No time to stop for sightings, and only a quick 3min pit stop at Tshokwane on the way home......

But there were lots of zebs about all over the place, herds of wildebeest and impalas too. Also the usual warthogs, quite a lot of ellies, and a road block of 13 giraffes. Nearer home I saw a few hyenas too.

Now very tired so going to get an early night......and hopefully a quiet day off tomorrow.

I am sorry! Not having my own car has made things difficult, and I am struggling still to get over the cold I had while away on the course......still feeling very tired.

On Saturday I had to go back up to Olifants to fetch my friend, and as we had no time to get back again through the park we had to drive around via Nelspruit - not a pleasant journey and I am very glad he drove! It was one of those trip where I had to drive at staff speed so sightings were only those close to the road, but still lots of the usual animals about and nearly got held up by a herd of ellies, but just got to the spot on the road as they did so slipped past in time. Did have a special sighting of a pair of secretary birds near Satara too.

Tomorrow I have the trip to bush camp with food supplies again (in my 'boss's bakkie') so may have some sightings to report tomorrow evening.

My car is now with Mahindra and needs a recon engine to repair the damage caused by the turbo blowing up......so not sure when I will have my own transport again.

Hi EJ. It is so terrible not to have wheels when you need them. I hope you get your car back soon so you can get back to normal. I think frustrating is the word. Get well soon and boost yourself with some vitamin C.
Look after yourself. Regards, D

How unbelievably frustrating. I feel for you (having once been without my car for over four months - aaaaarrrrgggggh). Hope you manage to throw off the last of the cold soon.

My trip through to bush camp with food was another quick one as my 'boss' needed her car to leave early today.

No cats or dogs, but just about everything else was about including a magnificent nyala bull near the bush camp itself. Nearly got trapped by ellies a couple of times, but again managed to arrive at the spot in the road just as they did and slipped past before they began to cross.

Very tired when I got back, and having an early night tonight......

Oh....and have had lots of malaria in the past, and this is nothing like it....just taking a long time to get over the heavy cold I had because I was unable to rest while I had it.
