Hi EJ. That new fridge will be good and you can really stock up on meals. Cook one and put two away in the freezer as I do at home. I always like to keep a six pack of yoghurt in the fridge and a good bit of fruit and when it is so hot and humid just make a fruit salad for the two of us for supper and plonk a small yoghurt over. yummy!

It really is an effort to prepare food for one person, especially if that person is oneself! I've also done it for many years, and that was the only time that I was slim and trim! What I actually want to say Ecojunkie, is that I can relate with your problem!

If you have a bigger fridge, it will definitely be much better! It really helps to freeze the leftovers of a meal for a next time, like Dalene D said. :D

If I were you, I would have had scrambled eggs on toast with grated cheese. That was always one of my favourites. Ice cream for desert will be super in that heat! Good luck!

I am planning to make soups and some meat and pasta dishes etc and freeze them.....but need to find time and a day that is not too hot.......after I have the bigger fridge/freezer of course! A long time ago in a previous life ( :) ) I did this, and it worked OK then.

WOW!!!!! Will explain at end of this post.....

Left for Letaba at lunch time and got there just before gate closing. Good sightings of giraffe, ellies, rhinos, impala, warthogs, zebs, wildebeest.....but no time to stop for anything sadly.

Lectures Monday and today.....with rain this morning, and later this afternoon, by which time the power had failed too....chaos for the presentations, but we made a plan (put it on 2 laptops and turned them to face audience). Power eventually back after 6pm and rain stopped soon after that.

I had seen a bushbuck next to the bungalow behind me most of the evening, and thought it was sheltering near a log. But then.....I saw her move and the tiniest baby behind her!!! She had been giving birth! I grabbed my camera and slowly walked over, she allowed me quite close, but light was horrid and I got poor photos. Went to tell my 'boss' in the next bungalow and she came out to see and then fetched her camera.

Then......the baby started to move shakily in my direction.....and came right over to me, stood on my feet and leant against my leg! I bent down and gently stroked its ears and neck, but did not want to make too much fuss of it. Mum moved behind me, but just watched and baby then slowly moved to her. Magic!!!! They are together in the middle of the bungalows with mum licking baby constantly and baby nursing frequently. So cute and wonderful to see.

Fantastic experience Ecojunkie! I don't think there are many people who can tell that a baby Bushbuck leaned against them so shortly after being born!

Today we left camp shortly after 7am with a list of places to visit to check coordinates and/or take photos. We planned to drive home after that, but waited to cancel booking until our return so we could leave stuff in the fridges.

We got back about an hour ago!!!!! So just as well we did not cancel booking...... Lots of photos taken.....but mostly rocks or rock formations, as it was for a geology book and geosite information. We did see a number of ellies, impalas, zebs, giraffes and waterbuck en route.

No sign of mum and baby bushbuck, I suspect baby is now hidden somewhere, and will stay there for up to 6 weeks before being brought out to the public again.

I hope the baby Bushbuck stays safe until he is big enough to stay out of danger's way!
