Done about third of the laundry, and had a cold shower to try and cool down.....now a cold drink too. Need to get something to eat, but uninspired at present.

What about a tuna dish? Take two tins of tuna and mix that with mayonnaise, chopped gherkins and small cubes of cheese. You can spice it up with a little bit of tomato sauce or chopped chillies. Put it the fridge to cool down and serve it on toast or plain bread.

Tuna I have, bread I have......and some tinned tomatoes......but it would be too much for one meal and I really don't want to eat tuna and tomato for the next few days...... Later when it is cooler I will do something like cheese on toast. Should be getting a bigger fridge in 2 weeks time which will help with meal variety.

Fridge has cheese and bread (and cold drinks) - it is only a little thermo-cooler so does not hold much. Otherwise eggs, pasta, tuna, corned beef, tinned tomatoes (various sorts), tinned sweetcorn, few sauce packets, and some Idahoan mash potato packets. Not much space in a caravan!!!!

No wood or charcoal......I do not braai when on my own as I think it is a waste of fuel. And it is too hot for a fire anyway..... But might defrost a chop and stick it in the griller. No tomato and onion for the braai broodtjie either. Actually will probably settle for cheese on toast or scrambled egg later on...... Will see....

In a nutshell..... I am an Honorary Ranger helping out as a full-time volunteer here. Because I am also a qualified guide it helps to have me on site to help with last minute activities etc. But as that does not take up all my time I also help with camp duties, gate duties at busy times, and spend most days working as an assistant to one of the managers (training courses, rifle proficiency assessments, leaflets, etc, etc). It is in this last role particularly that I get a bit of travelling in the park thrown in.

I am fortunate in being able to be happy in a crowd or on my own - and sometimes actually prefer being quiet and alone. There are staff here if the camp is unoccupied by guests, but often there are folk around, and I do the rounds at times checking that folk are OK and answering questions etc. Then there are the drives......and I really enjoy sharing with guests..... So all in all......a good life at the moment!
