Wharthog for lunch!!!

Unread postby Pinarelloman » Sat Aug 18, 2007 12:45 pm

Was in Kruger National Park last week and saw a Lion on a Dam. After watching him and his harem for 1.5 hrs several Wharthog attempted to have a drink. I snapped these pics of a Lioness after a Wharthog.

Wharthog for lunch!!!

It certainly was exciting to watch. We had been at the dam for 1.5hrs & watched 3 other hogs come in for a drink. They were able to detect the danger signals and vacate the area but this one did not seem to care.

Well two very excited Aussies arrived in the park 13/08 at Paul Kruger Gate, unsure of what to expect & were not dissapointed. While enroute to Croc Bridge for 1st night saw these 3 Cheetah laying on the road off the 114 onto the H5. We had been in the park 1hr.

The following day after checking out of Croc Bridge & enroute to Satara for 3 nights saw this.

Also saw numerous other Lion, Buffalo, Elephant etc. Saw Hyena on the way out of the park.

Thankyou to all. A very special place.
A quick question. If you must be in the rest camp by 1800, what happens if you are late?
The Wharthog did get away.

The dam the incident occurred at is on the right hand side of the 128 at the Lower Sabie end just before the 128 road turns a right angle and joins the tar at the H10. We had been heading north from Crocodile Bridge to spend the next three nights at Satara. Hope they are still there!

Saw this just after leaving the Lions.
