Kruger Park lost and found: Freda and MM strike out

Unread postby Meandering Mouse » Sun Jul 15, 2007 7:57 am

A few months ago Freda invited me to join her for a few days in Balule.
I was :dance: :dance: :dance:

We leave on 19th for Olifants and move to Balule the following day.
We will finally leave the park on the 23rd :cry:

At the moment I am so excited. Today I am off to buy the boerrie, tabard, panado, biltong, GPS system, dog collar and leash. I will also look around for rewards for Freda, because I feel in my bones there will be many, many sightings.
I am so tempted to follow Vonnie's reward system, but I might just get number of animals mixed up with number of sightings and really struggle with pink elephants. :redface:
The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

Our two angels have arrived safely :dance: The fun begins!

MM sms:
Here safely, very excited!

I just had to call, and spoke to both angels.... who are at Orpen Gate.

They have smelt the thatch, filled with petrol, booked in and cracked a frosty and are off to look for animals!

Have a ball you two.

Just a thought - SARS states that if you spend more than half a year in days at an establishment you are considered employed by that establishment - do you think Freda get paid a salary from SANParks.

Orpen - Balule is 94 kilometers. Do you think they'll make it in time if MM is driving? :D
Arriving currently: The photos from our trip! Overhere! :yaya:

Ok, will forward your messages to the angels! I know the following :D:D

* Freda is driving.

* MM's credit cards got the wunderlust......

* They are in Bungalow 11 at Olifants tonight

Sms from MM:
Sunset watching paradise. Saw lots of animals. Prayed at some point not to see an animal so as to arrive on time.

* The animals are looking good, Park not as dry as they have seen

* Highlight today three Secretary Birds, one close to the road bashing what must have been a snake

* They had just seen a baby ellie making its way up the river bank

* Watching night fall from bungalow 11 over the Olifants is out of this world

Yep 'twas Freda!

Will pass on your message Pumbaa!

A call from MM revealed the following:

* Best sightenings of today - BB Jackal, Sharps Grysbok

* Drove the S44 - saw 4 Fish Eagles

* Met a YR...new members dannigranni

* The Angels are camping at Balule tonight (in a tent) with a honeymoon couple on one side of them

* They saw a scops, maybe pearl (I go for pearl) spotted owl - eyes at the back (of its head I assume - like mothers :twisted: )

* Did they protrude today??? That is today's quiz :twisted:

... at this point Freda told MM to whisper as she was spotting two hyeana at the fence :D

There is news :dance:

MM has just called:

DinkyBird last evening wrote:... at this point Freda told MM to whisper as she was spotting two hyeana at the fence :D

* Balule camp emptied this morning.... only two camping parties are left; our two angels and a group of deaf campers. Freda reckons the others all moved out after after MM's loud conversation over the phone with me :roll:

* The two ladies saw 4 of the big 5 today...just leopard to go now. They drove the S100 and S39. The S100 was teeming with game. Lots of birds and the highlight was a Martial Eagle and Bateleur together. The Rhino was close to Satara. They also saw another Secretary Bird and Kori Bustard.

* Today we have some 'Freda'isms'.... :
Upon arriving back at camp after 10 hours on the road today, MM ask Freda (Freda is doing al the driving) if she was not exhausted.... Freda: ' no, when in Kruger you don't have to steer'

Freda again: 'This road is bladder friendly'

MM taking a refreshment after exciting sightings ... Freda to MM: 'Is that MY beer you drinking?'

:lol: :lol:
