It's been two weeks since our return, but I'm sure it's OK to post now - rather late than not at all!

Arrived AT B&Dal on 12 June and went on the night drive. Took the Matjulu Loop and about 2km out someone said "leopard".
How lucky can you get? Lovely male stalking impala. We sat there for about 15 min, and then left him to do his thing.

Saw ellies, rhinos, 2 porcupines, civet, lesser bush babies and 2 hippos grazing quite a distance from the river.

No lions during the entire stay there. Then off to Croc Bridge,
15-19 June.

It was definitely our trip for spotting leopard - saw one at 6.35am on the S28 going to Lower Sabie. It was quite relaxed, so we spent some time there until it sauntered off.
At 11.30 we had our 2nd sighting for the day on our way to Nkuhlu picnic spot. Sat next to the road and caused quite a
traffic jam!

To sum up the next few days - a pride of 9 lions camping out on the cement wall of the (dry) dam 3km out of camp, staying there the whole day.
A serval one late afternoon (again on the S28)
Rhinos, buffalo, but no cheetahs.

What a week it was! Can't wait to go back in Oct.!!!

Yip, forgot to mention we saw two wild dogs during an afternoon drive at Berg&Dal (Matjulu loop again!)

At Croc Bridge the vervet monkeys were regular visitors and we had to put all our eats inside. Had a nasty experience last year when a troop of baboons raided our safari tent at LS.
Total chaos!!! The staff were excellent and moved us into one of the chalets for the last 4 nights of our stay with no xtra cost.

Heard that Duke was seen in the area around Croc B, but no luck! Seen him once, but that was several years ago.

I must be careful not to get too greedy! Was disappointed though to miss another leopard ( would have been our fourth) with a kill up a tree on the S82 5km out of LS. By the time we've heard about it, it was two days after the fact and what was left of the impala was not enough for it to return (strange?) and the cat wasn't seen again.

Will definitely keep record of our sightings when we go again (Oct) and report back.
