One of our three lion sightings was quite exciting, not because of the sighting itself, but because it happened "just after Duke". As I said, we saw Duke within a kilometre from Croc Bridge Camp and then proceeded onto the S25. The lions were right next to the road even before we reached the turnoff to the hippo pool. One lioness thought the car in front of us provided the ideal shady spot for her to lie down in.
The occupants of CXS 964 MP couldn't see much of her and slowly moved forward. She wasn't amused, got up and then lay down next to our car, making it impossible for us to get more pics of her. Here's another one when she was still lying next to the other car...
For a while there were signs in the Park requesting visitors to report ground hornbill sightings, presumably because their numbers were declining ? Well in that case we were quite lucky this time -we had three different sightings-on the H4-2 , the H4-1 and the S114
The sighting on the S114 was of this one trying to break open a huge snail shell. It didn't manage to break it, but did in the end extract the tasty bit inside.
Another memorably sighting was this buffalo herd that was crossing the road just after the bridge over the Biyamiti river on the S25. It took them at least 40 minutes to cross - impossible to count, as some had already crossed the road when we got there, but I'd guess there were more than 300 !
