Elsa, Klynstron & Jock - Trip Report : June 2007

Unread postby Jock » Thu May 24, 2007 7:27 am

Well, the day before we depart for Kruger and I cannot wait although some members of the party have already had an amazing holiday. However, they need Kruger to relax after the very busy time (it is hard work but someone has to do it - right). My brother, sister-in-law and two nieces will be joining us for our first week and then the three of us will enjoy another week amongst God's creatures.
Cheers
Her Highness Jockelina

Hi to all and thanks so much for the wishes.

I didn't think being abroad for 6 weeks and in some of the most scenic and wonderful places and aboard the most fantastic ship one could imagine could be this exhausting. :?
But I am seriously needing the peace and tranquility of Kruger to get all my priorities and thought processes in order and therefore cannot wait untill tomorrow morning at 7am when we depart.

We will keep you all informed of our sightings as we step by step get our batteries recharged and return to the normality we like it to be. :D
Where ever you go, go with all your Heart.

Elsa, Klynstron & Jock - Trip Report

Unread postby Tawny » Fri Jun 01, 2007 11:07 am

Kruger put on it's best 109th birthday performance for us yet today (Thu 31.05). Four more cheetah, this time on the S28 and then a little later, 1km north of Macs waterhole, the highlight of my trip, we came across..... DUKE!

Two separate wonderful sightings of leopard, lion and rhino completed the day.

The long awaited trip report at last!

After a couple of trips into the park and more or less seeing the "usual" animals, we finally hit the jackpot with a family of 4 cheetah on an impala kill. What a thrill. Shortly afterwards we came across 2 Tsessebe grazing right next to the road. We saw a Tawny Eagle with a Vervet Monkey kill. We got road blocked by a huge herd of Buffalo just as we were heading for the gate and closing time, only just made it! (That would make it the second time that this has happened to them, the first time they were forced to stayover at Lower Sabie!!!!)

The weather is really lovely and warm. At present (16h58 Wednesday 30/05/07), we are sitting on our verander watching a big herd of elephant drinking in the rivier and the sun setting slowly over the park. Can it get any better?

Into the park again tomorrow. (Thursday 31/05/07)

Will keep you posted with further news!

(Sat 02.06)
Took a drive up to Satara and saw 2 sightings of lion and a glimpse of a cheetah under a tree by a kill. Lots of other game, just missed leopard on rock near Lower Sabie.
