DavenJan’s Skukuza Cricket Weekend Trip Report.
Morning all, briefly here is our report.
We entered at Phabeni just after 0915 and headed along the S3 and our first sighting was Buffalo, then hyena, then nothing. Even Lake Panic only had hippo, crocs, Egyptian geese and white faced ducks.
Did however see leopards (tortoise)
Here are a couple, see hole in shell
Booked in and drove to the village for a non practice. Did watch some young guys showing how to play cricket.
Our sundowner drive started with little, even on maroela loop!
Struck gold on way back along H4-1
about 5 lions lazing about, honestly, look carefully.
We then came across the secret Bafana-bafana training camp, some elephant playing soccer with a plastic bucket. (only on video unfortunately) but it had Jan and I laughing at their antics.
Back to get ready for Selati and saw this guy next to us. Think he was put off by the sign though!!
Saturday early headed for rhinosterkoppies (s114), stopped at the dam for coffee and rusks in the rain to look at the buffalo, then spotted the odd one out. See the rhino?
Happily the weather improved as we headed for the cricket ground and we had a terrific day, two good games. I even managed a few runs. This is me batting against Skukuza.
Thanks to deville for the super photo. I won’t show you the one of my wickets spread all over the place!!!
This must be the triumphant Skukuza team as they are holding the trophy!
Well done angels. I read somewhere MM suggesting me for coach for next year. Do you know how much training I did this year?
Great evening at the Golf Club, good food, good company.
Sunday we headed off for Croc Bridge via Lower Sabie, in the rain.
Lots of ellies with babies crossed in front of us, but it was too wet to open the windows.
Came across this lovely bee eater when it wasn’t raining
And finally these guys gave us their opinion on the weather.
Had a super time and look forward to next year. Thanks again to everyone who worked so hard to make the weekend such a success.
