I want to plant a tree on a special hill but I have no idea which tree will be best suited for the enviroment :hmz:

I don't mind what tree it is but it would be great if my kids, kids could climb it or swing in it one day

Anyway the hill is located in the Eastern Cape, 20km north of Patensie.

Any advice? please?

Thanks for the heads-up with the Hotel story. That hotel is going up 1500km from my tree and my tree is going to be planted in a very isolated place.

Here's a map of where I wanna plant my tree

Start by looking around and plant what is already growing in that area.

Hi Bakkie

I have wonderful memories of climbing trees with my brother...

Perhaps an "Eastern Cape Monarch" a large outeniqua, or false, yellowwood?

The following link contains contact numbers for the SA Botanical Society:

http://books.google.co.za/books?id=u16B ... 8#PPA15,M1

Perhaps they are best suited to give advice?

Beautifull part of South Africa - and Outeniqua yellowwood is a integral member of the Coastal Forest biome in SA.

Millions of them were felled in centuries gone by for shipbuilding and building etc. so you are helping to repopulate a species .
