I saw this flowering tree at Pretoriuskop. Can anyone tell me what it is?

You are SO right in saying there is not a good general "plant book"! Right now I have 5 different books on my desk. One on shrubs, one on wildflowers and three on trees.......I am always searching for that ONE book :? that will have it all.
Still working on your other pics.
The tree at Pretoriuskop I would put in th Bauhinia family???

Thanks, Rosemary! I googled and that Pkop tree appears to be the orchid tree Bauhinia purpurea.

Thanks for taking the time to help me with these plants, I'm pretty sure about the desert broom, it's in the Augrabies map book, but the other(s) .... :?

Before my next RSA trip (probably not before 2009 :( ), I'm going to ask for recommendations for tree, shrub and flower books, because even if I can't carry them with on trips, once I have a few, I can at least have a better chance of IDing from pix after I get home.
