Ja, baboons grab young antelope, in this case a grey duiker lamb, it seems, when they get the chance for some extra protein...

I don't think size really matters as far as antelope species goes, rather normally about the size indicated in the pic, maybe a little bigger!? :?

Wow BB30. I think you posted the most endearing (The baby-baboon just melts you heart) and gruesome baboon pic here. When I read Bushmoms comment and look at the picture again, I can hear it as wel :shock: :big_eyes:

Please be aware of 1 or 2 males on the Skukuza Lower Sabie road. If you stop at them they WILL jump in at the window and steal what they can.

We almost had a fully grown baboon in the car.

Is that nonsense starting again LL, jumping onto cars?
Is is very likely they will get shot for doing that once
they become a nuisance to public! In the old days
there was one particular baboon, known to be a hitch
hiker between Lower Sabie and Skukuza if I don't have
it wrong. Up and down all day long.

Award: Sighting of the Year - Non Predator Award: Travel Tale of the Year for KNP (2012)
If irresponsible people continue to feed baboons and monkeys then these creatures will jump into cars. During my last trip a couple of weeks ago I saw grandparents with their grandchildren feeding vervet monkeys on the H4-1. When I reprimanded them I was subject to verbal abuse and they continued to feed the monkeys.
Park officials need to do more patrols on this road to discourage this sort of behaviour as well as to discourage speeding on this road.
