We saw this rhino with very long horn today . It's a female and was in company of a bull and also a younger rhino , probably her calf . Certainly the longest horn I have seen on a rhino in KNP .

Nice sighting okie!!! :thumbs_up: I am just glad you did not mention where you saw it, I am sure these murderous thugs that poach them would be there in a flash. :naughty:

Yes, okie!

Ironically, the longest but thinnest horns often occur on the females!

There was a regular around Mestel Dam many years back we used to call "Sarah Kromhoring"...she died of old age.

The bulls have the heaviest horns, and poachers target that.

Remember, they get paid by the weight...

I believe that apart from the one we sighted , that currently there is indeed another female with a horn that is even longer . She apparently ranges in an area about 50 kilometers from the one in my picture .
