During our last visit to Addo we again spotted a large bull elephant with one tusk missing. We first spotted him in Addo about four years ago. I wondered if anyone has since him lately. We were very lucky one morning to come across him, he was alone and we watch him for almost a hour. I would love to know if first of all is Skukuza his real name and how he is. If I remember rightly he has been brought down from Kruger.

I am hoping someone can help.

Skukuza is a huge bull ellie in Addo, and has just one tusk. So you most probably did see him when you were in Addo. I have also been lucky enough to see him. I have a pic of him somewhere ... let me look for it.

Thank you, when was the last time you saw him?

Unfortunately the Gentle Giant Skukuza passed away after being killed by a younger bull on Thursday last week!

It is sad, but not uncommon. Many elephants are killed in this way. A conflict between those big bulls are no joke!

Wow. That's really sad news. I was lucky enough to see him in September, and I was blown away by how huge he was.
